I've been given the okay for doing my son's Seabee battalion at Camp Leatherneck.  We will need 300 cases and will start sending on May 15.   I'm so excited.  :)  Kelley

We have Gina 12, Nancy W 25, Ethel 16,  Ally 40, Pat 30, Sue 30 and Susan 30 on the 15th, that's 183

Then we have Birdie 50, Natalie 15, Jodi 15, me 20.  for the 31st of May That's 283

The Chaplain estimated 300.  I will double check on the figures.  But I could use one or two more helpers for the 31st.

Sue,

I mailed my 15 yesterday. I'll try to send a picture when I can.

They look great Birdie!  Most of my shipments don't have any made by me.  But I mail lots haha.

Thanks for mailing Jodi.  Kelley, did your 12 go out yet?  I mailed 44 today.  I mailed for Natalie and 8 for Kelley, plus my 21.  That makes 300 total.  I think we are done, but am confirming with our POC.

I just got a great note from one of our Marines.

I ‘m a Marine who is deployed out in Afghanistan with CLB-4. I recently received the very nice pillowcase that you made. I just wanted to make sure that I said Thank you for taking the time and effort for sending the pillowcase. To the personnel who are deployed it really means a lot to receive something  like this. The smallest things helps boost morale and Navy Moms’ are doing a great job at that. Please keep sending the continuous prayers. Once, again thank you and Semper Fi.

Mine are done.  I've been out of the country all week, but they are mailed.  I ended up sending 13.

Thanks Kelley!  So unless the POC says different, this unit is finished.  Great job ladies.  Here are the pillowcases that I mailed:These are made at the afternoon part of my school job.  One by me (desert scene) and the other by a 5th grader:

I sent an email to the chaplain to let him know that all were mailed and here's what he said:

Thank you that will be just fine. Your service is much appreciated.

My son called to say  his CO sends tremendous thanks to our group for thinking of them.  He, however, hasn't got a pillowcase yet, so I hope his is in the last bunch.

How wonderful to talk to your son and so glad that they like the pcs.  I did tell our POC that if they need more to let me know.  we sent 301.

I received a letter from the CO yesterday thanking us for the pillowcases.  I will try to scan it and then post it later.

Great job ladies!

My apologies that I haven't followed up with this group.  I am scanning the letter now (I hope) haha  AND here is another email communication that I had with our POC:

June 17th

Hi Brian,

Yesterday I got a wonderful surprise in the mail from your Commanding Officer (CO)!  She wrote me and the crew a very nice letter!  Please thank her for me and let her know that more pcs are on their way.

A woman that I "met" thru the magazine article about HAE has a son serving at Camp Leatherneck right now.
They are to leave soon, so we won't be able to send pcs to them.  However, he sent me an address and it's for someone in the NMCB11.  I just want to make sure that ALPHA Co is included in the number of pcs that we sent.  I don't want to send doubles, but I don't want to leave anyone out.

Thank you so much and if you have any other chaplains for me to contact there, I would love it!

His reply:

Good evening,

You do not need to send anymore we are ok with pcs.

Thank you so much

This Came to me today, it came at a time when I needed to be lifted up. God know just what I needed.

Ma’am,

Thank you for the effort and heart that you put into making the troops fell good while in Afghanistan. I know that you probably wondered where that pillow case would ever end up, well here it is in Leatherneck Afghanistan in the Helmand Province. My Convoy team and I received a box with pillow cases and wondered what are we going to do with these. On convoys we are often left to sleep wherever we can( in the trucks, on the floor, set up a cot, I even slept on the tire once). When I received you pillow case, it gave me a reason to use a pillow, life just works like that sometimes doesn’t it. Now no matter where the missions take us in Afghanistan I can count on my pillow and pillow case being a constant in this unstable environment. Thank you for taking the time to care about someone you don’t even know. It really means a lot and I just wanted to say thanks and let you know how you have truly made a difference in my deployment. Here are some facts about what OUR pillow case has been through:

Traveled(drove) 12,000 kilometers
Been to 15 Provinces in Afghanistan
Been through 35 degree weather
Been through 120 degree weather
Survived more than 15 EIDs(don’t worry all my Sailors and I are still here and were not hurt)
Been to 4 of 5 major areas in Afghanistan
Been in around 10 quality pillow fights

And most importantly, has been there to hug when I missed my wife Divina.

Once again thanks for all you do.

Very respectfully,

Chief Rxxxxx Convoy Commander NMCB 11
Fighting Seabees
CEC(SCW/FMF) Rxxxxxx

this is just too much fun!
