This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in August...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of August of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPpers leaving in the month of August (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.
If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)
So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have August ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in August, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Welcome!
It's hard to believe the day has come. Right now my daughter is at the airport see her best friend off to BC, then its home for her to get ready as her recruiter will be picking her up at four to go to the hotel. My husband, sons and I will be there tomorrow as she take the oath and then on to the airport.
I can't believe how fast the time has gone because my daughter leaves tomorrow for Great Lakes, IL! I have done everything to try to prepare for this day; however, I'm still not ready. My daughter dropped me off at work this morning because she wanted to spend some extra time together with just me and her and it was the hardest thing to try to keep my composure knowing that she won't be the one picking me up today:(( On the bright side, my husband, son, daughter, and I are going to her hotel this evening to visit and have dinner and tomorrow we will be present to watch her take her oath and see her off at the airport. I keep telling myself, "Be strong and courageous" (Deut 31:6) - but my mother's heart is hurting. Please pray my strength in the Lord!
Regular numbered Divisions go in Consecutive order starting with 001 at the beginning of the Military Fiscal Year (Oct 1). We are now in the 300's for regular divisions. They also pair up into Brother Divisions within the training groups starting with an odd number. Brother Divisions train together.
800's start with 801 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue on consecutively when they have them. They do not have an 800 Division every PIR. 800 Divisions are for those with SPECOP (SPECial OPerations) contracts. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.
900's start with 901 at the beginning of the Fiscal Year and continue consecutively each TG/PIR (Training Group/Pass-in-Review=Graduation) There is almost always a 900 Division every PIR. Last year they did not have one for the April 1, 2011 PIR. (Was that an April Fools?!) Sometimes there can be two or even three if RTC skips a week of PIR. One of them will reflect the TG number. If there is more than one then they will be Brother Divisions.
900's are the "performing" divisions...either musically, marching/flags or tasks...respectively - Choir. drums, musical instruments, "sticks" flag carriers, door openers, standing watch over an area and other tasks.
It's been one year to the day that my son shipped out from MEPS to bootcamp! His PIR was in October (dress blues) and he did A school for HT in Great Lakes. Now he's on his ship, in San Diego. What a year it's been!
Good luck to all the new DEPers shipping out to GL! That phone call will be wonderful!
Our son left for GL yesterday! We saw him off at MEPs, we got a call from him when they got to O'Hare. He said he was tired, anxious and nervous =o). Then "the call" came about 9pm.....it was what everyone has said "im here, i'm safe, my belongings will be mailed to you..." we just kept telling over and over we love you, we're proud of you, you're going to do great!!! So now just waiting for the recruiter to call with his address, the box to come and the form letter.
Here are the current PIR groups. Underlined are clickable links for each group.
PIR: Oct 05, 2012 TG 47 (Will be updated when info is available)
PIR: Sept 28, 2012 TG 46 - 13 Divisions (307–316, 819, 820 & 946)
PIR: Sept 21, 2012 TG 45 - 9 Divisions (299–306 & 945)
PIR: Sept 14, 2012 TG 44 - 11 Divisions (289–298 & 944)
PIR: Sept 7, 2012 TG 43 - 11 Divisions (279–288 & 943)
PIR: Aug 31, 2012 TG 42 - 12 Divisions (269 - 278, 818 & 942)
PIR: Aug 24, 2012 TG 41 - 9 Divisioins (261 - 268 & 941)
Here is a good Discussion to get started!
The 10/12/2012 PIR group has been formed. Here is the link:
Please click and join if it is your PIR group.
We do not have a confiramtion on the Divisions yet and are relying on "guesstimate" and Form Letters. SO...here is some info below and anyone with a Form Letter confirmatuion...please post :-)
10/12 could start with Division 327...but it might be 329. Regular Divisions in a Training Group usually start with an odd number. The 900 Division will be 948 and it does have a SPECOP (800 Division) of 822.
The 10/05 starts with 317 and has an 800...so if it goes up to 326...and then add it's 900 Division that would be 12 Divisions..if 327 and 328 are included then 14. Not a common number... but it does happen.
