Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I grew up as a military brat so I thought when I married my husband and knew he was going to join the service it would be easy, but saying goodbye Wed. was the hardest but proudest thing I have experienced in life so far... it's not easy for me being without him, but when I saw him say good-bye to his 7 year old boy I knew that my tears were selfish... Its hard laying in bed without him, its hard not being able to kiss him when I want to or hear his voice... but when I saw my husband cry for the first time when he let go of his son made me realize he will hurt more than I will while he is gone. I might cry at night and miss his touch, but when I write a letter or when he made those few final calls.. I was the strongest woman I could be for him. I am proud of my husband.

Thanks Jessica.

Phoebeforsean, I agree 100%. I was a mess before my son left, but when I saw him at MEPS, I knew then that this was what he really wanted. I cannot let me feelings get in the way of what he is doing. I'm sure that he knows that I love him and miss, but he also knows how much I am behind him and want him to concentrate on his this new state of his life.

Love the wisdom I get from you wonderful moms...Thank you! I am writing to my son everyday and just setting those letters aside. Because he need's to not worry about me and my stuff. I wanted this for him and I need to support that. Even if it is hard on me it's not about me!!

Hey new moms! Welcome, you'll love this site and this group...I'll be praying for all of y'all....mine was shipped 10/4...not that long ago, yet seems like a million years ago....I've learned alot here and the support is great!!! Keep a look out for your "box", and your form letter....and remember...NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS...it's tough not to hear anything or know anything, but if you don't hear from your son's/duaghters that is good news, means they are doing alright! Definately join your PIR group once you know when that is...also, the recruiter has access to the address 72 hours after they leave...call them to find out address before you get the form letter...I went in to see ours. Start writing now! Send those letters daily, I do, it may be the same thing over and over, but he loves getting the letters! They probably won't get your letters till teh 2nd Sunday, could be the 3rd Sunday, my son said he just got his letters this past Sunday--his 3rd. Then he said he had bout 35...from me, his GF his grandparents...etc...just keep writing! And know that even though it seems like forever for the8 weeks to go by (or 9, sometimes 7), it does go by quickly! Jessica B is wonderful and will post things here and there about BC and things they do weekly, etc...read them..it helps a ton to know what they should be doing each week! And feel free to ask questions...I'm no pro, like I said mine shipped only a few weeks ago, but there are those that drop in to check on us--the pros like Jessica and Dianne....if one us newer moms can't help, they probably can!! Remember, we're all in the same boat! Good luck through your adventure...just think in appro 8 weeks, you'll be going to PIR!!
