Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of October (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have October ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in October, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Spent a few hours with my son at MEPS yesterday and was able to witness the final swearing in.  Got "the call"  from him around 11 pm last night.  Now for the wait. No news is good news, right?!?

Hi everyone! My son just left today for bootcamp. He’s lived with his dad for several years in the PNW and I live in the Southwest and so I’m used to not seeing him every day but this feels different. Not being able to talk to him for 8 weeks...that’s a tough one. It will be good for him though, that’s what I keep telling myself. Caught myself in tears today. And then my phone dinged. He got to text me one last time before they took his phone. It was just what I needed.

Hi antsmom,

Your name sounds familiar. This is my second time too! My older son left in July of 2014. Were our kids in boot camp together then? Not sure if I'm crazy or not, lol!

You're right, it is a little easier this time, but still missing my son too :(

Good morning :) My son left last week on the 12th. This is my second time going through this. I thought it would be easier, and some parts have been. The part where I am missing my boy isn't any easier. I just know a little more what to expect this time and know a little more of the lingo. My other son has already been in 2 1/2 years and been deployed twice. THAT was hard. Harder than boot camp. Well for now I'm back to writing letters daily, actually leaving my ringer on, stalking the mailman, and just missing my son. I am anxiously awaiting PIR date. Hope to meet some of you at the Meet and Greet. :)

Michigan mom try reading Arrival and What Happens at the RTC this will give you great insight as to what happens when he arrives. Welcome to the site! usually a week after you receive the box you should get the form letter. Hang tight and keep your head up.

Good morning. Trying to figure out all the ropes of getting signed into the right groups. My son left Milwaukee on October 10th. I received The Box. But that's it. No letter no address. Nothing:( His recruiter said he should graduate Dec 1st. I think that qualifys him for the thanksgiving visit. Any information, advice,& prayers would be greatly appreciated...

Good Morning Ladies Happy Friday to you all, wishing you all well with Strength and courage. I can understand the loss you may be feeling with your Loved Ones leaving or just arrived in BC. we are here beside you every step of the way!

Hi Everyone!

This is my second time going through the Boot Camp Blues, lol! Ugh... it's definitely easier this time since I know what to expect, but man... every time I start writing some words of encouragement to my son, the tears start flowing!

Although it's early, we're starting to make our travel plans to PIR. I know it's risky but I don't think I could afford the fares because of the holiday if I wait too much longer. Anyone else leaving out of Denver?

Lemonelephant- is there a Facebook page dedicated to the divisions yet?

Hope you're all having a great day! : )
