Elaine- I wondered when your son was leaving. Glad you made it back safely. When I saw that stuff coming down this morning [ NOT called for!] I was wondering what the roads were like. My Mom slipped and cut her knee just going to put her trash out this morning. We leave around 4 so I'm hoping the roads will be ok by then. I think this is the first time in a very long time we've had an almost whit Christmas. It's funny what your son said as mine said the exact opposite! He was in SD the year they had their "epic" snow and he is so over snow! Though he is bringing his snow boarding stuff back to SD and is having a hard time packing the snow boots!

Paul has a direct flight this time which he is quite happy about.

We had a great Christmas- having all but one of my kids here was awesome. My daughter and her family left yesterday to go back to NC and had no traffic- good thing they left when they did. It has been hectic having a house full with people and dogs but I loved it!

Linda- I can imagine how disruptive it would have been with getting floors done and trying to get ready for Christmas! Congrats on your new soon to be DIL!

Joanne- when does Kev go back?

Happy day after Christmas to all and stay safe!

Got back from the airport about an hour or so ago. Sailor is headed back to his ship. The only thing he really wants to see when he is in Maryland is snow, and boy did he get to see some!!!! It was sleet and ice balls this morning and then by the time we were leaving for the airport it was snowing pretty good. The roads were getting bad by the time we dropped him off and since I don't do snow and ice, I'm from Texas remember, I was very glad to get back home. I had to run a red light, couldn't stop in time. Oh, well. Sailor has a layover in Charlotte, hoping by the time he gets there the bad weather has left there. Lori, you need to check in when you get back home, please. I know Paul was leaving today, too.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. It was crazy at my mom's house once again as all the family gathers here. My sisters and brother and I bought our mom a 24" flatscreen TV and she LOOOOOOOOVES it. She is being dragged into the 21st century slowly but surely. Happy New Year to all. God Bless Our Sailors and Soldiers in the New Year.

I've been absent lately since my hardwood floors were replaced last week (the contractor was available and I needed to get this done since we had water damage). Needless to say, getting ready for Christmas has been hectic.  I've enjoyed having Joey home, but the countdown starts as he leaves for Washington om Jan 1.  However, he propsed to his girlfriend this week and I now have a future daughter-in-law that I adore. I have been so blessed!

Congratulations to everyone who has their sailor home for the holidays and prayers for those who were unable to be home. Joanne - great pictures of Kevin coming home.

Merry Christmas to all of the Maryland Navy Moms (and families) - you are the best! See you next year!

Joanne, I can see how happy you are to have Kevin home! That's great he was noticed by others. The 10lbs will be put back on in no time with you feeding him! Merry Christmas to your family!
I hope everyone is doing well! Elaine- you enjoying having your sailor home? Today is Paul's 25th birthday. Going to make him chocolate chip cookies and then the family are going out to a Japanese steak house tonight.

What a great surprise to see Lori at the airport this morning. Two happier women you would never see at 7 a.m., LOL. Our sailors are home for the holidays!!!! Mine was tired, too. I think he was going to sleep all day. We went back to my brother's house, where he will be staying with his dad, let the dogs out and fed them and the cats, who were so happy to see the sailor, too. Out to breakfast at a little cafe in Pasadena then to the grocery store and back to my brother's. I came back to my mom's house and took a nap myself. 4:30 a.m. came very early as I was up until 11:30 baking chocolate chip cookies. The days will go by so fast but just having him here for Christmas is just about all the present I will need.

For all those who have their sailors home, and for those that don't, they are always in my prayers. To all, have a very Merry Christmas.

Picked up our sailor early this morning. Guess who was standing at the baggage claim? Elaine! So neat to see a face I recognized! Elaine- enjoy having your sailor home. He must be exhausted. Paul said he's tired but can't sleep yet.
Linda- I know you are happy having Joey home!
Merry Christmas to all you moms!

Awww, Linda, congratulations to Joey.  What an awesome picture!  They all look so happy!  I hope you have a fabulous time with your sailor.  I will start saying my prayers now for his safe journey.  (I made that road trip last year with my sailor in Feb.)

Betsy - I'm glad you figured out a way to get your computer working!

Joey came home on Sunday ande will be here until 1/1/13. He will drive to WA with his older brother on 1/1 and has to report on 1/9. He heard from his sponsor and he will be going on a long run (no clue how long that will be) not too long after he reports. He will be on the USS Louisiana (Gold Team).

I wasn't able to get to his graduation in Ballston spa, but another Nuke Mom got his picture. Sge went to every graduation that day (4) to get pictures.

Joanne, I'm so sorry for your family's loss.  ((hugs)) and prayers.

Ladies, I have been reading posts recently, but haven't been able to post.  I did the most horrible thing and spilled a cup of coffee on my laptop about 2 weeks ago.  I was so afraid that it fried the entire thing, but thank goodness, I was able to buy a wireless keyboard and it seems to be working now.  I will get the keyboard replaced on it later on, since it will probably cost about $200 to do and right before Christmas, that's not an expense that I can put out.

Not much to report on the sailor's life right now.  I get emails from him about twice a week now, because he said that they are very busy and when he is not working, he is sleeping.  I did a red, white and blue theme for my tree this year and I'm thinking about keeping it up until he gets home.  (of course, I will turn off the lights after Christmas, lol)

I hope everyone is doing well and that all preparations for Christmas are going well.

Oh and we may have a new member of our group very soon and our lunch group.  My neighbor's daughter Cheryl, enlisted about 2 weeks ago, and ships out to boot camp on April 1.  She is going to be an Aviation Structural Mechanic and is very excited about going.  My neighbor, Halle, is very sweet and I am encouraging her to join us.
