I have another question.  How long of Liberty did your son(s) get after PIR.  My son hasn't told me anything and I was just curious if it's only Friday or maybe Saturday and Sunday as well.  Praying I get a call tomorrow.  He starts Battlestations tonight and ends tomorrow.

Spencer'sMom, Thank you for the information. It might be safest to just mail it back to him when he has his next address. I'm a little worried about leaving his belongings in a locker.

Hello YMM and Nicks Mom,  I did not know about the Lock N Go lockers but from what I have seen posted since it sounds like many people do this.  I actually took his items with me for him to use for the few days I was there, I then brought them home and shipped them USPS in one of the priority boxes and put goodies etc and his chargers etc.  It cost me about $20.00 for the box and shipping and he got it in 2 days.  They can not take anything back on base after PIR.  They can only have these items once they move to their A school or their temporary housing.  I think it was the following week before he got me the address.  He has full access to these items and is now testing for the next stage of his liberty on Wed.  At that point he can wear civilian clothes and stay off base I think if he wants to.

Yes, thanks Spencer's mom!  I was wanting to know the same info.  Did you take his phone and computer to PIR?  Where can they store this until they are allowed to use it?  I was not wanting to ship it to him, but bring to his graduation.

Spencer'sMom, Did you take your son's electronic gadgets to him at PIR? Was he able to take them directly to his temp housing or did you have to store them in one of the Lock n Go lockers? Thanks for the info. It helps to have information who is a step ahead of my SR.

Hello Nick mom,

My son graduated on 2/4 and he went into temporary housing for about a week and then moved to his permanent housing for school.  He will be there until 3/30 and then on to San Diego.  I am not sure if it is the same for all minemen but his actual classes start tomorrow and they are computer based and he takes tests at his own speed so I guess if he is behind it would make him leaving on 3/30 set back a bit.  He goes to class from 7-3 and has duty  every forth day where he has to stay on the ship and clean or stand watch etc.  He has a lot more free time now.  He has his computer, ipod, phone so much more contact etc.  He is now testing for his next phase of liberty and will test on that Wed.  Once he has that he can wear civilian clothes and can stay off base I think.  I hope that helps with what will follow.  I think all minement go to San Diego for part of their schooling as they just opened a new school there about 6 months ago.
