Just read this: For his valor, Rodriguez-Chavez, a 34-year-old who hailed originally from Acuna, Mexico, would be awarded the Navy Cross.

No, I think that this young Marine was upset that the driver was not recognized for the same Medal. I heard he's very bitter toward the military, and that it took some persuasion for him to accept the Medal of Honor.I don't blame him. He felt he should share it with his peers, and good for him for doing that.

Marine receiving Medal of Honor

This Marine sharing his honor with those he served...including a corpsman lost that day and one there at the ceremony.

Crying like a baby...good grief.

MK, my son is in Iraq and he said there will be a stop on mail today the 15th. I just sent out a package, I hope it gets to him. If it is mid Oct. that would be even better. I was waiting to send it out to him because his b-day is Oct. 2nd and I was getting him stuff for that but had to send a little sooner than that. He also said that they will be not able to call or anything on the internet. Now not sure how true this but if you hear something let me know as well. Hopefully they will be home sooner then.

I heard a rumor on fb that there is a mail stop order effective mid October for all troops in Iraq.  I have not heard that before from our son, and I have not been able to ask him if that is true.  Anyone else heard this?

Pittsburgh family killed in Arizona

Kelly, is there more information on Sean and his family? and a maybe a link to a way to donate that does not involve shopping? I ran a search on google and came up with nothing. I'll keep looking.

I'm not comfortable with promoting someone's business and income in this manner, especially in the face of such tragedy. If I contribute, I want it all to go to Sean's needs. thanks.

TDM, that made me proud and sad all at the same time. My heart goes out to all affected by this young man. I open my heart and prayers for his family. I can't imagine what you guys go thru  because my sailor is not in Afghanastan but I think of those men/women everyday. Thank you for sharing that.

Just one personal note, my son told me about this young corpsman, and he asked after any of you who might have loved ones in the 1/6. Don't identify yourselves here, just know there's other corpsmen grieving these Docs lost in the 1/6 , and thinking of you and your kids right now.  I read a bit of their postings on fb, they all come together to share, I'm very thankful they reach out to one another, just like we do. Truly we have to remember that we are not alone, you are not alone...
