Well,  THAT was exciting...I thought I'd lost touch with all of you! and with things ramping up yet again in the Middle East, I guess our group isn't done yet!  Hope you are all well!

Hi all.  Hope everyone and their Sailor's are doing well.  I just wanted to stop in and say that everything is good in Florida.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is to actually see my son every month.  We often joke about it now when one of us is headed home... "see you next month!"  He is getting married at the end of August so we are looking forward to that.  My how life has changed going from green back to blue.  So much less stressful for him.  God bless those that are still green and that have made the choice to stay that way.  We may have a humanitarian mission in our future onboard the Comfort which we'll find out about later in the year.

((((HUGS)))) to all that still fighting the fight.

I meant to add that I attended the service for Doc Lundy. He was a Central Texas kid. I attended with another Navy mom, whose son took his own life after 9 years in the USN. It was a very very hard day. But the community and the Navy were there in force for Doc Lundy.

Ladies, I am still here! I was so hoping that we could move this group on...but it seems we will not be combat free probably in our lifetimes so here we stay.

Glad to hear the good news of your sailors ....and weddings and grandchildren!

Memorial Day is such an emotional day for us all, I can't imagine the pain the families of these young 1/6  Marines and Corpsmen are going through today.

It's been a l-o-n-g- time since I've checked into this site. I know that's a good thing for me.  Our youngest son, AF, has been in England for a few months now with his new bride. They found a beautiful small cottage to rent in a small village to "experience" the whole European life. They even walk to the "Tavern"!! Even though he has been very busy with his job and "technically not deployed, he has had several training exercises at very different locations. I guess you could say, they are on an extended  honeymoon. He took her to a beautiful Bed & Breakfast for a long weekend & she has already met him for a weekend at one of the countries that use to be Yugoslavia. Their life there has already been very rewarding for the both of them. Of course now they have a newly rambunctious giant schnauzer, so I'm sure the traveling for her may dwindle down a little. Plus, she just found a PT job that she was anxious & happy to get. Not in her field, that's been a little bit of a rough road getting all of her credentials together for her overseas career, but she's still working on it. She had just graduated with her BS in Radiological Science & (ARRT), Radiography & Radiation Therapy just before they left.

Our oldest son, Navy, has had land duty in SC & just rec'd his BA at the Citadel last month. His wife is also working on her MB in Education as well, so their household has been very busy with that & their 20 month son.He is planning on leaving the Navy since he has now started a family. Sub life is very demanding when sea duty roles around, and having this latest land duty, has put his family life in perspective. He has a 1 1/2 years left. It's been a very rough decision on his part, because he really does love the sub life, but he also doesn't want to miss out on watching his family grow up though life. I know with all of his background as a nuclear engineer tech & now his BA degree, he should have a smooth transition into the civilian work world.

I hope this all finds everyone in good health. Love & Safety to All.

JerseySusan - Congratulations to your son on his engagement!  And for his tour in Europe.  My son did a two year tour in Italy and loved every minute.

IDCmom - I have giggled about that one for a minute or two..  I can only imagine THAT conversation. LOL

For those of you that did not see the picture I posted last week and only left up for a short time, it was of my son swearing in for another three years of Navy life.  He has nearly 6 years in now.  He has gone from blue to green and now back to blue.  He deployed to a non-combat zone but it was still very hard for me not to have contact with him for weeks at a time.  I totally understand that little light when they're on FB!!  I still, after nearly six years, have a hard time with him being so far but am so grateful he will finally be just a short drive away from home. I have three children but he is my oldest and I would consider us still close.  Although he has been on the beautiful island of Hawaii for the last three years, the training missions have kept him off island for weeks and months at a time.  I guess each command has it's own challenges and I am hoping Florida will be a good one for him and his fiancé.  I only spent one year as an Army wife but remember how difficult it was being newlyweds in the military.  It is not a life for everyone but that doesn't mean it won't work for some.  Obviously there are a ton of married military men and women that have made it work.  And I applaud all of them!  Each member of our military needs all the love and support they can get from their support system (wives, husbands, moms, dads, etc.).  Those big girl panties can be stretched to their limit at times :) and sometimes ya just want to go commando but your sons and daughters know that you love them.  God Bless you all during this holiday season!
