I guess I forgot to mention one thing this Jeep is not running, so driving it is out of the questions. It will need to be on a carrier.

Thanks,
Jody

All.....As I annouced earlier our son is returning from Afghanistan in a few days.

As all things Navy our best laid plans have gone out the window and now have a new time line of classes and report date.

Has anyone had to ship a vehicle cross country? I would appreciate any information you may have!

I would suggest we posted it here on this site, because this information may be helpfully to others in the future.

Mom in waiting,
Jody

I was less than joyful when my son reenlisted for that same reason, lynda...but it's working out so far...he'll be in San Antonio, 67 miles from my door in the fall!!

They are all tears of love, Judy...so you don't have to specify which is which. I'm sure your SIL knows your love and worries, and your son knows how proud you are of him.

and on this board, we know both!! Hug both for us!!

Hi Everyone! Yesterday, as I headed into the bathroom, the phone started to ring, (poor timing) and I wanted it to just ring and go to the answering machine. You know how it is: Never mess with Mother Nature and never be late when she calls. Anyway, my "nature call" was intreputed by a very familiar voice, saying, "Hi Mom!" Needless to say, YOU CAN stop in the middle!! I was so excited to here Eric's voice. He sounded as though he was right next door instead of in Aghanistan! We had a wonderful chat and didn't realize we had talked for nearl 40 minutes. Then, I realized that after all that time, I really didn't get any information from him at all. (He's really good at his job!) Oh, I found out that he was doing well, that he had been in Qatar for a couple of days, and the normal chit-chat. At the very end of the conversation he told me to read my email, which I did as soon I a hung up. When I pulled up the email, I had to download an attachment. I was thrilled to see what he had sent me was his Itinerary for him, his wife, and daughter. The flight info said: to Minneapolis on July 16th. I started to cry! I was so surprised. We haven't seen any of them since last Novemeber. I can hardly wait for these next few weeks to go by. So, there is my good news for the day. I hope that you all hear from your loved ones and have a great day!

Jody, Just a quick note: When selling a house in one location and have to move to another location (and want to buy a house there) aways check with others in the Navy! It might be faster that going thru an agent. There are always others in the military that want a home that is well cared for and want to sell it to someone that may need it in a hurry. Many others have done this in the past and it seems too work quite well. Have a great day!

Good News.....Our LT got his written orders to return stateside!!

We can tell the difference in his mood. He is joking once again. Its been a long time since we have heard his sense of humor.

Now the push is on. He returns stateside, has to sell his house and move cross country within 45 days. The days will be busy for all. My husband and I plan to go out and give a hand. My husband will drive one of the vehicles and I will bring the granddaughters (ages 4 and 18 months) back on the plane with me. I will have the girls for about a week on my own while the other adults drive. Its been a while since I have had little ones all to myself. Thank god I have lots of family to help me keep these very active little girls busy!

It is exciting time ssince our son will now be stationed on the same coast as we are for the first time in 12 years.

This means I can hop on a flight and go for a weekend visit, verses having to fly cross country.

Needless to say my husband and I where just giddy the day we got the news he had his orders.

Our son is on his third deployment. The first two where to Iraq, We had much better communications when he was in Iraq than he has had in Afghanistan.

Well now we will be able to call whenever we want!!! He may have been in the Navy 12 years, but he is still our boy and we miss him.

He now will be stationed on a ship for the first time in his career, so we will have new hurdles to over come, but we will adapt.

Far winds and following seas
Jody
