Ana, blessings and congrats to you on a happy day...I know I wept when I saw the picture that cher sent to me when my son was boots down in NC that morning! even tho I had spoken with him and knew he was on US soil...that picture just released a huge torrent of emotion! Please visit this site often, those of us with safe sailors still can provide support for those fighting those emotions will their children are in a war zone...and let's face it, those could be our kids going back again. I know my son knows deployement is in his future again. So, don't drop this group, now is the time to make sure every post is answered! congrats again!

Becky.....I am not sure where your son is? But if he is the sand box, it happens. Mine is there now. Its his third tour.

Often when things are going on it takes awhile for communications to get back to normal. They will often take communications down as a security precaution, and it may be a day or so before they get them back.

You are one of the lucky ones your son can have communications with you. There are lots of us that have children that are serving and because of their jobs can't have skype or personal cell phones. Its what they have to do to keep themselves safe and us.

Take a breath, take solace in prayer.

God bless all,
Jody

Mary Jo...I hope they have been putting the money into building base support there the way they have in Iraq...that is miserable weather, hot or cold. How long has she been there? I know the last couple of months are the hardest for them, they are just done and ready to be home.

Debby, we're half way there, babe! enjoy this time with your boys, and then we start praying the other one home. Like MMK says, we can feel your joy right here with us!! What a great day!

HE'S HOME!!!!!!!!!!!! My parents drove up to VA Bch last night and picked him up at Norfolk, he's at my sisters house in VA Bch.. he text messaged me said he will call but I have a feeling my mother reminded him of the 3 hour time difference so I got ready for work and the phone is now ringing... Thank you all I would not have gotten through any of this without you..

Karen especially you... you befriended me and stuck by a stranger with your caring support... I adore you my friend...

I am going to enjoy this calm for a bit... I wont think about my Soldiers deployment which is rapidly approaching.. I am going to enjoy even if for a short time having both sons in this great country... much love Debby

Yep...my son was there all summer....he said it "wasn't too bad"....but he played baseball in Texas with high humidity and the temp 103....every day....just kept hydrated. Some are cold natured, some are hot! so glad it works out that way.

Mary Jo, what is the weather like where your daughter is? My son was transferred out of a unit headed there in November...he was really yoyoing about reenlisting, etc...so when I was so delighted, obviously, that he wasn't going to Afghanistan, he said "yeah, it's too damn cold there"....and I said something about just not having to deploy to a war zone...he says "I'll take Iraq, I don't mind the heat."....it's the weather. Good grief, we're here worrying ourselves silly and all they care about is the damn weather. But he is his mother's son, I just do not function well in the bitter cold either. He's reupped for 3 more years, even tho now he's headed closer to home in Texas, I have no doubt that he will be deployed again. I guess that little knot in the bottom of a military mom's stomach is there until they leave the military for good.
