OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Mostly they take their electronics, want their boxers, and my son went and bought himself sheets, a comforter, a pillow, and toiletry items. Other than that, they don't need much else. He won't be able to wear civilian clothes for a month or so, so you could send those to him later.

They do usually get out early on fridays before holidays because all the officers want to get a head start on the weekend. Depends on who you have as an instructor. Jacob always seemed to get out by like noon on holiday weekends.

Comment by amanda on May 30, 2011 at 12:59am: Luvnsupport- yes, definitely anything can change but in school they always get federal holidays. if the post office is closed, your boyfriend will have school off. that's an easy rule to remember. The only time he might not is if he's in indoc,t-track, or grad hold (all breaks when they aren't in classes but are working around base or standing watches) or during prototype, which you'll be a year at least away from going through. Since he'll be there for 2 weeks before 4th of july, i *think* he'll be out of indoc by then and actually doing a-school classes. If you make plans, i really do think you'll be ok.

Any other moms have different experience about 3 day weekends?

When my son got there it was the day before Veteran's Day, Nov. 10. So he go there Wed., had Thursday completely off, did I don't know what on Friday, had the weekend off, started indoc. on Monday thru Friday, had the following weekend off, then started classes the next Monday. He is an MM so I hear they get started a little faster than the EMs and ETs. But I know we can't always rely on that. Once he started A school he had mandatory study hours on Sundays, and always had Friday evening and Saturday off, unless he had lots of study hours to make up. After about the second week in A school they had to do watch quals. which means they had to schedule in 12 hours of shadowing people on watch to learn how to do it. This was on top of their PT and classroom time and study time. It was crazy for about 2 weeks with that going on too. then once they were qualified for watch they had watch usually once a week, or every other week. It would usually be like from 6-10 pm, in the classroom, so he could study at the same time as he was standing watch to be sure that people weren't throwing things away that they shouldn't, or not taking materials from the classroom, or excessive talking. So, I think if your son get's there within two weeks of the 4th of July, he will surely have some time off during that weekend that he can go out with you. I think they have an 8 or 10 pm curfew at first, and can't leave base until after 5:30 a.m., something like that.

If they do have a 4 day weekend for the 4th of July, I don't know if they will be off Monday and Tuesday or Friday and Monday. We need to find out for sure, which should help a little for you.

Yes, I don't even remember where I had seen it but I had downloaded the information and I read it again. Is there a chance that they would have to work or get liberty taken away or does this not apply here at school anymore? Would making travel plans be ok or is it another one of "anything can change" deals.
