My son said MM are called 'monkey wrenchers', EMs are 'wire biters' and ETs are something like terminal watchers.

Betsyleebig - my son failed a sit-up PT test during A school. He ended up doing extra PT in the morning, which usually meant he missed breakfast. It was only for two weeks until he could re-test.

Son  called.  He  failed  running in  his PT test while  in  Prototype. Any  idea what  that  will  mean  for  him?  I  guess  he  wasn't  the  only  one.

Angie:  I can give you 'second hand' information about what their jobs are like.  I was in the Navy in the 80's (not nuke) and my son is now in the Nuke program.  When I was in the Navy we called the EM's and MM's "Snipes",  A snipe was someone that worked in the engineering department in the 'hole'.  I'm told it's nowhere near as dirty now.  A MM's job is probably the most physical.  My son jokingly said they 'pick things up and put them down'.  Everyone please take that with a grain.  I'm also told that their job is probably the most dirty.  an EM's job is 1/2 physical and 1/2 mental.  They are also called 'wire biters'.  They get dirty, but also do less physical work.  The ET's are not 'snipes'.  They spend most of their time in a 'clean' enviroment.  They also have to interact more frequently with officers.  My son likes to say, that they are like Homer Simpson in the control room pushing buttons.  I hope this doesn't offend anyone, and as I said take it with a grain of salt.

Hello all! I wish I could say to look out for my son at GC today but we found out yesterday that my sailor is on hold at BC because of a medical waiver he needs for 'special operations duty" of which I guess the Nuke program belongs. Sooo we are now in limbo. His waiver was accepted for general duty but now we have to wait for the second one to be approved. Luckily we live close enough to RTC that we can retrieve him for weekend liberty hours until he gets either approved or denied. We need prayers for approval please!!! All will be appreciated (add a request for speed too since if he can report by the 29th he can still class up with his buddies from his training group)

So happy for all the moms and sailors who graduated A-school yesterday.  We can't wait to go back to GC for our sailor's graduation the beginning of July!   Just so proud of all those sailors what what they accomplish!.
