OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

We get to go up & get our son Thursday & also bring him his Truck, he's been waiting so long,doesnt grad Power School till November. Anyone know if Thursday

there is a chance they could let them out of class before 330? Just trying to time our drive from Fla.

Now it seems like Hawaii! Maybe some of you moms who've been around longer than I have can comment: does it really seem to go in bunches? A bunch to San Diego, than a bunch to Groton, to Hawaii, etc.? Maybe that's just my impression, and I'm not paying close attention.

My boy truly joined the Navy to see the world, so after living his whole life in GA he's enjoyed the travel and new experiences. Just hope we can afford to visit him wherever he ends up :)

Comment by Pamela on August 25, 2012 at 10:04pm: Dodie, my son is ecstatic! His first choice was Japan, even though he knew there was no subs there. He's just always wanted to go to Japan. Plus, his brother and cousin are in Japan. But, his 2nd choice for sub duty was Hawaii, 3rd choice was WA. We are so glad that he got Hawaii. His smile is from ear to ear!

Savannahgal, My son had his orals last Monday. He was very, very nervous!! Couldn't sleep for 2 nights. But, thank god he passed. It was in front of 3 superiors and lasted about an hour or so. Had to draw out diagrams on a dry erase board. That's about all he said about it. He was just so glad it was over and he passed.

William, my son said that most of the sub vols in his proto class got subs, but there were several sub vols who were assigned to a carrier...go figure.

My son hopes to be done around 9/28 but says there may be a delay with the plant....anyone in the know about that? He's put in for Japan, San Diego, and Bremerton WA in that order. We are just praying for him to do well in the orals. Anyone with details about that, too, let me know....

Comment by Pamela on August 25, 2012 at 7:37pm: Hi there, It's been a long time since I've been on!!!! So hello again! My son just finished Prototype and graduates on 9/24!!! He did awesome!! He also just got his orders, he's going to Pearl Harbor!!! USS Olympia SSN 717. Planning a family vacation once he gets there and gets settled. My other son is in the Navy as well. He's in Misawa, Japan! We live in Daytona Beach, FL. 2 sons so far away! But, at least we can all be together for a couple of weeks in Hawaii. I'm so excited for him. He wanted Hawaii and he actually got it.
