OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

But she is worried about working retail as she would probably have to work weekends. She was thinking weekends are the only time she may get to see SR during A school and Power school. Reading the crazy T-track schedule, I wonder if her assumption is right. How much did you get to see your husband during A school?

But Power School grad can take several hours!! And the traffic afterwards is a lil ridiculous. Good luck to him in catching that plane! I will be SUPER impressed if he catches it!!

Comment by mommajo on August 5, 2011 at 10:19am: I found the A school graduation enjoyable; ours started a 9 and was over by 10. All the officers, teachers, and commanders were talkative and friendly...we stayed and visited with them. 7 am isn't so bad...you will definately miss the heat of the day.

Our power grad was outside; it was HOT. However, there was some shade and ice water was provided. There were close to 500 grads so it took longer. Was more ceremony than A school

BunkerQ~very well said. I had a roommate with a photogenic memory who aced every test but barely made it thru clinicals because she couldn't apply all that memory to real medical cases.

Comment by Heather(labellaleigh) - ETwife on August 5, 2011 at 10:02am: William in Nashua - T-Track is my favorite right now. =) It's almost like a summer vacation for him and he was able to breathe easier. He was so unhappy in a-school and would often ask why he joined. I had to remind him everyday that there is a light at the end of this tunnel. He would usually respond with something sarcastic and go to sleep. So now that he isn't worried about tests and comp, he is enjoying it here much better. =)

He was on 12-24's for a while but thankfully it went back down to 8-36s. I see him more often then he was in school! His schedule right now is work 8 hours on day, off the next (Muster at 7:30 in the morning on weekdays) and the next is T-School or On-Going days. On-Going days he will muster at 5:15am, PT, muster again, clean, have a long lunch, go back to muster, T-School (usually lasts an hour or so and they discuss various things) and go home around 3:30. And then it starts all over again. The reason I hated 12-24s was because his nights and days were so mixed up. He would work 6am-6pm, off 24 hours, work 6pm-6am, off 24 hours and so on. If he wasn't working, he was sleeping. He was so out of it one weekend he showed up at 7:30am on a Sunday... only to remember they doesn't muster on weekends. But after a few weeks it becomes second nature. Then they would change it and cause ciaos for us all. We've just learned never to get too comfortable lol.

In 2 weeks he starts Power School. If he's learned anything from a-school, it's to get outside help! He does not feel embarrassed anymore to ask for help when he needs it.

Oh... and those going to their loved one's a-school graduation.... make sure he adds your NAME to the guest list!!!!

Mine forgot to add MY NAME to the list and I was asked to step out of the graduation. Luckily my bursting into tears caused the guys to feel uncomfortable and figured out how to get me back in there.

Comment by BunkerQB on August 5, 2011 at 2:43am: There are many, many with super high IQs in the Nuke program - as enlisted or officers. There is book-learned brilliance and practical-put-it-to-test brilliance. Sometimes the guys who aren't great with cracking a book will be fantastic in prototype. I guess you can say they are all brilliant in one way or another. As moms, wives, dads, fiancees, gfs - we naturally think our own sailor is the most brilliant person on the face of the planet. I am sure the sailors themselves are more down-to-earth in their self evaluations. Let's hope so anyway, a few wise guys have been known to cry and whimper through the entire deployment. On a sub, that could be up to six months.

Gee no wonder his is at 7 AM Lol. Can you imagine a graduation ceremony held at 7 in the morning? It is like congratulations, now get the hell out of here.
