Chris Mom- Its such a relief to hear that Prototype might actually be enjoyable. Any words of insight for those of us just about to start?

Connie, I'm feeling a bit like you are lately.  Can't micromanage his life, so stepping back a little.  Just praying that once Power school starts on the 28th he will do well.  Still worried about that ankle of his, but I can't do anything about it.  He has to be the one to seek out the help and pursue it all.

I have actually been in touch with a very old friend from middle school who went through Nukes back in the 80's, and so did his brother, at the same time.  I can only imagine how difficult it was for their mom having not one, but both her sons gone and no immediate contact like that.  He did his 8 years and got out, but his brother stayed in as a Nuke for 23 years, and he said his brother really loved it.  I find a little comfort in knowing some guys from the past who have had this experience already.

Good morning everyone.  Just wanted to let you all know that today in Groupon Charleson there is a coupon for Domino's pizza.  It's a $20 value for only $8.  We used two of these, at the same time, when we were recently in Goose Creek, and it worked out beautifully.  There is a Domino's just a couple miles straight down the road from base.  I'm going to get some more of these and send them to my son.  If you are planning on being there you could get some and have a nice pizza night at the Villa's or wherever you are staying.  These coupons are valid nationwide, so pick some up for your home town too.  You can purchase 3 at a time.  I also know that the same deal is in effect for Salem and Portland Oregon today, so you can buy them from those places too and use them anywhere.

Congrats to all who passed their Power School comps, and safe travels to those going to graduation! I start this journey next week - I know my son is anxious to get back to school and be done with the cleaning and long watches.

Hey EMily...send us some pictures.  I've never been there and my son doesn't send any!

Congrats to those that passed BS and Comps!! How exciting for everyone!

This is one deary and wet day in MI. Looking out the window I do see the birds flying by, the raindrops sprinkle in the mud puddles along the driveway and dirt road, driving Kacy to school earlier dodging the many rain filled potholes in the country roads, seeing how the rain has flooded many yards and fields. Makes one wonder what the farmers are thinking as they can't plant in the rain soaked fields. Baseball games are being canceled due to the wet weather, though they were played last week in the cold wather as the winds whipped through you. Nothing could get you warm again, the chill was to the bones. Sunshine has fallen asleep again, not sure when it will rise though hoping real soon! Happy Wednesday to all!

Have a great weekend, Moms! :)

Connie, I'm with you, except my Son's power school grad is set for August. He's been doing well (says he's ranked 11 or 12 out of about 300), so I think his odds of passing are good. He hasn't seemed anxious--so far!--so I'll try not to show any anxiousness on my part. Won't be easy, though.

Well done to all who made it thru comps. My turn for the power school sweating-it-out will come in October. Am feeling rather small tonight in the great scheme of things, seems like we get our knickers in a twist sometimes for nothing ... had a dead foal yesterday from a mare that's never given us any trouble, and a perfectly lovely foal tonight from a mare that's been major headaches in years past ... the older I get, the more inclined I am to let the universe unfold without my "help" and that includes trying to not micro-manage my son's life (Oh, who am I kidding, I'm still doing that, but silently now, except for when I can't help myself and send him emails about remembering to take his vitamins etc). Don't know how moms got thru the nuke school experience in the olden days (1980s?) without being able to email and text their kids, ha ha!
