OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

He has been on the sub for 45 days - just came up and was in port for a day and a half. Saw he was on FB last night and chatted with him there. He said he could get his computer to work but not the phone. This evening he actually called and we talked for about 15 miunutes. He sounded good - heading back to Groton in next few days. We will be heading up there to see him in two weeks. E-mails are nice even if sporadic, but actually hearing his voice was awesome. Sweet dreams tonight!!

I guess I just have to hope we end up at the same airport so we can spend extra time with him before he leaves.

Your sailor (in uniform) has to be with you to get the pass. A TSA guard took us through security very quickly and we got to spend an extra 5 hours with our sailor.

Comment by Mark on June 14, 2010 at 9:15pm: They generally learn where they're headed about a month before grad, as Kris indicated. I'll add that Power School graduations are every two months, so someone has been told the wrong date...

Comment by Kris, Stevens mom on June 14, 2010 at 6:09pm: jacobs mom, my son also graduates power school 09/03. I just spoke with him today and he said in about 8 weeks they will start having briefings and talking about where they want to go, do, etc. it is my understanding that unless they stay in GC for prototype they need to be in NY within 1-2 weeks of graduation - it doesnt matter if there is a wait for prototype to start or not. maybe someone else knows if it is differnet.
