As far as the roommate, you might get lucky. My boyfriend likes to put in his hours right after class while he's still in the mindset while his roommate would rather go later at night. So it works out that quite often (though not always) they are in the room at different times. don't write the possibility off yet. but don't get excited either lol i've learned that through this whole experience. don't anticipate anything! haha
as far as weekends, yes, it's very easing of the mind to know he won't party. he will still want to get off base because he'll likely detest the place soon enough. my boyfriend and his friends hit up the beach pretty much every saturday now and all day. and i believe officers encourage not staying on base either. they tell them there is too much to do off base to sit around on base all the time.
but it sounds like you guys already have a great foundation to weather nuke school!

casey- the amount of time he's going to put into studying is going to be a lot. He is going to apply for OCS in a month so he wants to make sure his gpa is very good (he wants to get the highest GPA ever at GC... very ambitious lol) plus he has a leadership position in his class so i know that will take even more time. But right now the most important thing needs to be what he is doing in A School, becasue then WE can be the most important for the rest of our lives :)

thanks amanda. We already talked about possibly using skype or something. he has a crappy roommate so who knows if that will actually happen.
I told him that he should worry about doing well in class rather than making sure to call me everyday anyway. And Luckily for me he's not a partying type (not that he's allowed to yet anyway) so hanging out late on weekends isnt going to be an issue.

Oh, and I totally recommend setting up some video chatting program if you can. And between the two of you, find some set time at least once a week when you both will be free and can talk. It's almost like letter day from boot camp :)

Nicole, your sailor is absolutely right! He'll have weekends but it's likely he'll want to spend them off base. Eventually you'll figure out his schedule but at least give yourself a month to settle in to the new life.
Congrats and welcome!

My Boyfriend arrived at GC on the 4th. He started classing up this week and officially starts this coming monday. Anyone else with a sailor in INDOC? and has anyone else been told by their sailor that they will probably not be calling/texting/etc very much? ( i got really spoiled this passed week while he has plenty of time)
