About sending Care Packages to APO's/FPO's.
Whew...I hardly ever go to the post office...but these last 5 months? I'm a regular...
You can also go to the USPS website and order directly there too. I personally prefer the Large (12x12x5 1/2 - my concept of Lg and the USPS differ!) Priority Mail boxes in a bundle of ten or twenty-five. They are free! I like these because they are the "America Supports You" ones that also say APO/FPO Flat rate Box. Flat rate is 12.95 (normally 14.95). I sent one of the small (5 3/8x5 3/8x1 5/8) and flat rate is 5.20. You can insure it also.
I do not like filling out forms! I grab a bunch of customs forms, and the two kinds of insurance ones so I can fill out at home. At least prefill the addy's. I just use regular strapping tape.
You may only send packages Priority mail to APO/FPO's.
There are a few businesses that offer FREE shipping to APO/FPO's too. I sent my husband books from B&N and it was free shipping (I think no tax too!) and they got there within a week. Hickory Farms does it, a few beef jerky places, Jelly Belly. I spent a day "searching".
It's also a good idea to go to USPS because they give you the guidelines on what you "can" and "cannot" send. This will differ for regions. For instance - no pork products to middle east. I had to dig around to get to the "biggee" with all the codes. Was checking out sending OTC meds.
Thanks ProudNaVyMom! That's good to know about sending his stuff to "A" schoo that way l! I'd rather use two, even three at 12.95, than pack a 12x12x12 box and $40 or $50 dollars...except...ugh...the forms!
I always put my phone in my bra when I don't have a pocket! LOL I have a friend also that puts hers there all the time! LOL
Praying for a call sooooooon.
