~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lala Ribbon Queen My news resolution is to try not to carry over bad feelings from 2012. Key word is try... Also spend more time with family and friends. I have never heard of the "26 Acts of Kindness". Could you explain?
What is your New Years Resolution? I plan to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible, travel with my hubby, and participate in the "26 Acts of Kindness" campaign. What is your resolution?
Oops! Just noticed my typo...Grandson is ship 11 Div 49..not 48...all packed up and ready to go. Taking an extra suitcase or our soon to be sailor with items we hope he can keep at A school. Thank goodness SW Airlines has a liberal free luggage policy - figured we can always bring whatever he can't have home with us on the return flight. I was able to print out a few extra gate pass forms for the 1/4 graduation. They are "fill in the blank" with SR and Ship/Div #s, so if anyone needs one, see me at Sarge's Thursday night..I have white hair and will be hanging with my blond daughter and 13 year old granddaughter. Can't wait! It is a Great New Year!
Thank you Lala and diannep. I was told there is a Walmart close so if he can have a TV and no one is selling a used one then we will go get a small flat for the room. I would hate to travel all that way with a flatscreen that is not suppose to get cold. Cold is all it is up my way..... I am getting so excited!!!!!!! I am only worried about the long drive!!
Happy New Year, everyone! Prayers that the House will pass the "new deal" approved by the Senate in the wee hours today, and save a fall off the "cliff!"
Shelley: To add on to what Lala said, they will be told when they report to GL A School (right after PIR) what they can/cannot have. So. if you want to bring things to PIR, do so. They should be able to take what they can have, and you can mail/bring back the other things later.
count down clock is really ticking down yea!!!!! we are leaving virginia at 4 am wed snow to start our trip then clear driving. may all you navy moms have clear roads and clear runways see you soon be safe
Shelley, They are allowed to have lots of things but it really depends on how long A-school is. Anything they have there has to be either taken with them when they go to their next location or they have to get rid of it. It can be very hard to take all the extras like a TV. It also depends on each base and those in charge. If they have a long a-school then some of them will buy a TV, usually a used one from someone who is shipping out and then they sell it or give it away when they leave. I have never heard of anyone having a microwave in A-school. Most Sailors keep it simple and take their phones and a laptop or iPad. I know one of my daughters friends had a TV and his Xbox at A-school in Pensacola but that was after he had phased up and he had the Xbox sent to him. Personally I wouldn't take those things to him just yet. I wouldn't worry about him getting sick from the goodies. The day they complete battle stations they get to go to the NEX and get candy and energy drinks so they are all hyped up on sugar lol. Personally I hate the energy drinks and think they are really bad. I wish they would just stop making them.
question... I believe my SR is staying in GL for their A school. When my SR called the other day they mentioned bringing items that I am not sure about. What are they allowed to have in their rooms? I see lots of people posting about bringing there under clothing but I have not seen things like playstation or TV or microwave. What are they allowed to have in their rooms? Packing up the vehicle today and want to make sure I have what they need/want. Do they now what they are allowed to have? I looked on the other links but didn't see what they are allowed to have in their rooms. I know we can give them their cell phones right off. but other then that no clue. I know my mother and his fathers grandparents are going and bringing lots of goodies. I'm affraid he will get sick since he hasn't had that kind of food in a while.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
