N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I will also get the call while we are on our way. We are leaving on Wed so we can get there late Thursday. 16+ hrs on the road. I have had all the emotions in the last couple days.I am so greatful to ALL the Navy MOMS!!!!!! I hope I will be able to continue and be able to inform just as much as you all have. I have been coping all the links you have been putting out there with an explanation for myself.... We will see. Don't want to get anything wrong....

@ Chele i agree it was the hardest call to wait for. I think worse than waiting for the first initial call. Once i saw the area code pop up on my phone all the stress i has just melted away. It was great to talk for such a long time and i was able to 3 way call to get his dad on the phone as well. We made him say "I'm a Sailor" about 10 times. Just extremely proud of him and all the others :)

I did the same thing Chele kept waking up all night to say a few prayers.then sat and looked at the phone saying RING RING. glad to know i was not the onlyone who felt that way.

My Sailors BS was last week and I was very nervous I woke up several times tat night and every time I did I would say a prayer that he would be doing ok and ask for strength for him to stay awake and make it thru. It was a few tense hours once phone calls started coming Thru waiting for my phone to ring. It was about 5 pm our time 4pm Chicago time before the phone rang. They had 1 hour to talk which was nice because he was able to call me then his GF and then his Dad. It was the greatest feeling ever.

diannep, thank you so much for those encouraging words...I have been soooo nervous also because we will be driving to Great Lakes during the time we are expecting the " I am a Sailor " Thank you not only for todays comment but for all your wisdom over the last few weeks. HAPPY 2013 to you and your family.

Good Morning All!

Pam, it is normal to be nervous!  That is their final test.  But most are more nervous about the final PFA because if they don't pass that, they can't do BattleStations until they do.  I would assume that most in this group have already passed that although maybe some are taking it today?

No worries....no one that we are aware of ever missed PIR because they didn't pass BattleStations....they repeat it if they mess up (going to sleep during it is an automatic fail, but they try to keep each other awake).  They pass the 2nd time.

It is an exciting time though...because this is the only "thing" between them being a SR and a Sailor!  That I'm a Sailor phone call is the best!

 Happy New Years Eve!

Thanks to everyone on here for the support. People who do not get on here with all of you are really missing out on a lot. You are all a wealth of information. Looking forward to meeting you all at PIR and making some life long friends. is there anyone from Michigan who is going to be at PIR 1/4/13? Happy New Year.
