N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

What a great day yesterday! Only way too short with our Sailor & his BC buddy. We said our goodbyes last night. They were leaving RTC @ 0100 & had a 0745 flight. He knew we had a long day on the road to home so he told us to not go to airport. He took his boxers & phone last night :-). He's already sent a text from San Antonio. I feel much better seeing how well he's doing & am so very proud of him & all the new Sailors.

Yes, he should have time with you today if not flying out until tomorrow...unless he has some "watch" duty.  Hopefully he will call you soon!

Great Lakes A School Q&A

Comment by DavesMom on January 5, 2013 at 3:16am

Wow!  PIR was a beautiful gift!  What's even better?  Spending today, Sat. and Sun. with my sailor, his two big brothers and his girlfriend.  Is there a Great Lakes A School group here on N4Ms?  Best wishes to all of you and your sailors in the next step of the journey!

Comment by diannep on January 4, 2013 at 11:50pm

Hope all had a great day of celebration....and that many will be enjoying sailors tomorrow from GL A School base....or at the airports!

Congrats and enjoy today!  Hope that some of you are entering the PIR Hall right now.  For the rest of you?  Get moving!  :-)  You don't want to miss out on anything today!

Remember, there are no photographs allowed outside on the base...only inside the buildings.  So please keep that in mind.  You are being watched and cameras/phones will be confiscated/pictures deleted. If you are like me, you will want to snap a photo of a division marching....but DON'T!  Just enjoy the scenery!  Also, note the division number and jump on their PIR group on here later to let the ladies know that you saw their SRs and they looked "mahvelous!"

Also, you will only have about 10-15 minutes after PIR concludes to get your pictures/hug your sailors before they will clear the hall.  So keep that in mind!

Today's the day!! It seems like just a week or two ago they shipped to RTC and here we are! I know we are all so very proud of them and I think we should be proud of ourselves as well. We got laid the foundation for them to get here and to succeed. And we've survived the roller coaster of these past few months. We've made it!
