For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Is there a certain day of the week that our SR's get mail? In regards
To the meet and greet that Sarge puts on that is at a restaurant
Not a hotel correct ? How does his meet and greet compare with the
Reception some of the other hotels put on? Also should I make
Arrangements for the shuttle to the PIR with Sarge right now?

Comment by diannep on November 19, 2012 at 12:12am: Chele: Calls are totally random....any day, at any time. Keep phones handy, even in the bathroom and when you step out to get the mail! Calls have been missed in previous groups during these times! :-)

Are phone calls usually made on certain days? I'll just keep praying that he is doing ok and staying strong and positive.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on November 18, 2012 at 7:04pm: No Pam, no worries :) Like Diannep said it won't be changed. They take the holiday into consideration when determining the PIR date at the very beginning.

Pulling the wisdom teeth is very common in boot camp. If they look like they will ba any kind of problem later they pull them. They don't want them to have a problem while deployed. Why was he sent to ship 5 alohacoffee?

But, there could be a change in your SR's PIR date....if he/she is asmoed (setback) for any reason. We recommend that you try and get tickets through Southwest Airlines for that reason...no change fee, first 2 bags ship for free. They fly into Milwaukee and Midway-Chicago. Milwaukee airport is a bit closer.
