~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I haven't gotten a call from my son, but am hopeful I will. He also has a very serious girlfriend, so she may get the call, but she has promised to call and tell me everything (within reason...LOL). I just made our flight reservations. We will get to Chicago on Thursday, Jan 3 at 9:15 am! Does anyone have a SR who will be a construction mechanic (Seebee) in this SHIP/DIV?
To Dina Gay, I also have twin sons. Both are signed up navy. Steve is now at BC ship 12 div 48. His twin is lonesome but this has forced him to be more social which is good. He, Sam goes in to BC in April.
Lala, Woohoo! What a cool thing for her to do.
Good morning everyone, We got a wonderful surprise on Friday. Our daughter (my step-daughter) who has been away attending college at UNCW was supposed to come home for Thanksgiving on Tuesday evening. I made my daily trip to the post office Friday afternoon and when I came back home (no cars in the driveway) I walked in the house and and she was right there yelling Lala, I'm home lol. scared the crud of me lol. I was so happy and glad to have her home early. Her classes were canceled and she parked her car at the church so she could surprise us :)
Wow Dina, that is going to be a crazy and wild ride.
Good morning everyone, I didn't get a chance to introduce myself. I am Lala the ribbon queen :) I am one of the moms on this site who stuck around to help make this experience a little easier for all of you. I have two Sailors, my daughter is an AO at Oceana in VA Beach and getting ready for deployment. She was in the performing DIV of bootcamp and sang in the choir. She had PIR in July of 2010. My son-in-law/her hubby is an IT based at Little Creek in VA Beach. His PIR was in Oct 2010. I am happy to help in any way I can and I look forward to hearing all about you and your recruits. Feel free to friend request me if you like. I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday.
Good Morning Ladies!
Dina Gay & Timekarich ((hugs)) Sounds like you are both twice blessed with awesome boys.
Good Morning All!
Wow, timekarich: Double whammy....I think you mean PIR on 11/21, right? Two sons gone at once.....hope you are going to both PIRs!
bela02: It is very hard for them when they first arrive and during the first weeks. I remember my son describing it as like being in prison! But the last part of bootcamp gets much better for them. They make great friends in there (maybe because misery loves company?? )....so just know that it does get better! Hang in there.....
FTLW, I must say I love the pic you chose for the countdown clock :)
