N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I too have a son who is scheduled to PIR on Jan 10 2014   I too received a call today from him and was sooooo glad to hear from him.  He too states the food is good and he sounded upbeat on the phone.  It was so nice to hear his voice.  He said they are wearing their uniforms now and not not PT uniforms anymore.  I hope they all make it through this new journey in their lives!   Wishing them all good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

Momma bear sorry to hear about the heart murmur hopefully it will not be a factor in  his ability to stay nor an issue with his health. You are in my prayers. I did receive a call this morning I was so excited to hear his voice. He did tell me that he wants a letter every day, he said all of the SR's look forward to reading them from their families. He knows how much I have been relying on navy for moms for emotional support and guidance so he made me promise I would tell all to be sure to write to their loved one. I know you already know this but I promised him. His voice sounded so good! I am so happy today.

Got a call too! He sounded so good! Of course he said boot camp sucks and they get yelled at constantly, but he sounded upbeat and positive. He said the food was good, he is already used to the lack of sleep and his uniform doesn't fit. They've sent it back three times for alterations and it is still wrong, but he decided it wasn't worth getting yelled at to mention it again. And he has an ingrown toenail. I know- TMI! I'm THRILLED and can now relax a little bit

ProudMom93, Tami0823, & ScMom. Looking forward to finding more out about division 909 since my son has no musical background. Hope everyone has a great rest of the day! No phone call for me yet, but I will keep up my prayers.

I was so happy to get a call today, and so happy for all who did too. He didn't mention anything about Christmas though, as far as any privileges.

I got a call today too! I think it was a blessing from the Man up above that I was able to get it! Took my kids to see Catching Fire (great movie!). 3/4 of the way through, the movie messed up. They stopped it, fixed it, and rewound it some so we didnt miss anything. I decided to go to the bathroom real fast. There is NO signal in the theater....however, right in the middle of my potty break, I get a call from Wakeugan, IL! I couldnt answer fast enough. The people in the bathroom must think im crazy! I asked her how long she had to talk , she said only 2 minutes. I got up and ran out, apologizing for not washing my hands right away, but that I would be back! She sounded so good! She said she had been calling for 10 minutes, I felt so bad! She says it is stressful and hard, just like she thought but she making it! She said she was recruit chief petty officer? Not sure what that means, but she was proud. I told her we were so very proud of her and we loved her. She said she loved us, and I could hear the smile in her voice :) Thanks for letting me share!!!
