N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi Everyone! I miss our time on here. So glad to hear all your Sailors are doing well. My son is on hold at GL for ATT school before he goes to San Diego for A School. Said they told him he could be on hold for couple weeks to a couple months waiting for enough Sailors to fill the class. I'm just so glad that he really likes the other 3 Sailors he's housed with. He has his laptop, new phone, and guitar with him so he's set LOL. Was going to send him coffee pot and some snacks today but can't go on the roads, we're in state of emergency with the snow. Hopefully weather will be better tomorrow. Best part is being able to talk and text him, so much better than BC :)

ProudMom93, is your son a reservists or active duty? My son is active duty. His roommate is a QM reservists and was in his ship 13 division 059. He starts class tomorrow, but my son is on hold until they get enough QM's to fill the class. I am glad your son is not on hold.

Nice to hear everyone and their sailors are doing very well.  M's Mom: my son is waiting for AD school as well! In the Div 060 group pic, he's the one dead center smiling....when everyone else is serious.  THAT got him a 4 hour watch immediately after PIR :(  oh well, we still had "Christmas" for him after that.

FLMuscadine: I'm so happy your made it out and that your son was so Happy to see you!  PIR was such an awesome day!

I am going to find another forum or group that pertains to A-school in Pensacola. Hope to see some of you there! I feel like we cyber-bonded and i'll miss those of you whose kids went other places.

Navymom, my son is also at a school for QM, PIR of 1-10-14 as well. I haven't spoken to him but he texted me yesterday and said that he got his classes so I think that means they are not on hold. Am I wrong on this?

Well Christy, I am glad you asked.  It takes a while for me to figure certain things out, and this website is no different.  Still getting a lot of emails from a different group (Boot Camp Moms), and tonight I actually went back to the beginning of this group and read most.  I visited navyformoms for the first time about 10 days after my son left.  I was pretty much in the dark when it came to they day to day.  Had it not been for Mom2Bryan, I probably would have had no news from my son.  Bryan just happened to be his bunk mate. He kept mom informed, and she delivered the news to me!  Add to that the fact that I was out of the country for two and a half weeks...just a 24 hour stay home before going to GL.  Looked out the window as we landed in Chicago and could not believe my eyes...all was white....my daughter and I had never seen snow!!!  Kept on thinking....I can't wait for a call....just will hope for the best.  I realized at PIR when they announced liberty, my son really did not know for sure we where there.  He was so, so happy to see us....so were we.  The look in his eyes was priceless.  Meet and Greet was awesome, but even there I could not find many of you who I really wanted to meet.  Alice, I just saw your message and I will reply to you soon.  I hope you are feeling better from that terrible fall.  Lemonelephant and diannep, thank you so much for all your help.  NikB....how did the SRs who needed letters do?  Son is in Gulfport now, so any others there let me know who you are.  BTW Christy, I lived in Pensacola for about five years....great place to be!
