OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I'm leaving from San Francisco on Thursday.  Praying no delays.  Did leave much wiggle room for any kind of delay.  Hope to see all of you Cali moms at Sarge's meet and greet (if we get there on time) :-)

Yes, Christy, please let us know if there are any issues getting out of So. Cal.  I had friends that were trying to fly to Tennessee on Monday and they finally are getting out on Wednesday.

Christy , please let me know how your flight turns out. We leave Thursday from LAX. I pray your flight is on time with no issues. I also pray my flight will not get cancelled on Thursday.

Isabel:  Here is what RTC says about wheelchairs at RTC:

Q.
Are wheelchairs available for use and is there designated handicapped seating available?
A.

Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis when guests check in at the Visitor Center. There is limited handicapped-designated seating on the drill deck. One family member may accompany a handicapped family member in this area.

leaving tomorrow (Wed) at 8:12 am out of Orange County, Cali and so far the flight is on time. :)...praying for no delays

Proudmom, I think I read somewhere that if you need special care (wheelchair or something else), you need to let them know (form letter) maybe veterans can help with the information.

I think we have to post on Facebook page .... https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand ..... about the buses the Cheermom is talking, it is good idea, they have to have shame for not think in that first, Lol.
