N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My husband said they have to check into their new barracks and that can take a little bit. They will let them know( the ones staying in GL) the rules and length of their liberty. So I don't know yet. But sure hope it's all weekend!

oh great lisa4495 and Smonique16!  Do either of you know if they get any leave this weekend aside from Friday?

Hopnavymom my son is staying in GL for A school.
Missed Sarge's Meet and Greet. The flights just didn't pan out time wise, but I am here and that's what matters most. Cannot wait to see my sailor tomorrow and to meet some of you my new lifelong friends.

Still haven't received a call but happy to know he passed!  So excited for tomorrow!  Are there any other sailors that will be staying at Great Lakes for A school?

I have a sailor!! I am so proud of my husband and super excited to see him graduate tomorrow! ! Bravo Zulu to the new sailors!! I can't believe this day is finally here : )
Comment by diannep on January 9, 2014 at 9:13pm

Hope all got the "shortcut" from Sarge if driving to RTC in the morning...heading on Buckley, go past RTC (stay to the left, line of cars going to RTC will be on your right)....once past RTC, turn around in/near train station and head back to RTC from that direction...easy left turn into RTC from that direction! :-)

Comment by diannep on January 9, 2014 at 9:10pm

The new sailors will not fly out on PIR day...however, they will be bussed late that night or in the wee hours of Sat morning to wait for flights.  They should have more info for you after PIR.  We suggest that after all drop off your sailors back at RTC that night, take a short nap before heading to the Chicago/Milwaukee airports to meet your sailors (take ID for the airlines gate passes so you can wait until departure of their planes).  Be sure you know which airport your sailors will be flying from!  Flight time too.

Proudmom:  Sure hope you are now in the air and on your way to Chicago!
