N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

To my wonderful surprise, there was a letter in the mailbox this afternoon from my SR (14, 062)!  She wrote the letter on New Year's Day and it is very positive compared to previous letters.  She seems very excited over learning to shoot . . .not sure that's good or not!  They had a "Dynamic Material Inspection" last Monday which she did good and said they will have their last one this coming Friday.  She cracked some jokes about making up in boot camp for all the times she didn't make her bed at home!

She wrote that one of their favorite things was hearing from us about the NavyforMoms site and that she and her shipmates have been matching their moms up with who's chatting with who!  She mentioned knowing the daughter from Ft Meyers (Nadia), the daughter from Texas (DanaD) and the daughter from Maryville(Labradoodles)!

I’m glad we have been able to entertain our daughters with a guessing game!

Thanks so much, it is not too late to order. If you order ribbons by Wednesday I will ship by Thursday and you should receive them by Saturday or Monday depending on how far from NC you live. I ship all of them priority 2-3 day mail with tracking and insurance :) Please let me know if you have any concerns. If you are leaving very early or get your order in later than Wednesday or Thursday morning I can also ship to your hotel :)

Thanks DanaD, a young man who is in the Navy said the same thing.  He said the last two weeks are the busiest.  I just got spoiled talking to him so much.  I am afraid with this weather we wont  get to see him graduate.  :(

Hello All!

labradoodles, I feel the same way after our recent letter and last phone call from our daughter (also Ship 14 Div 062). She seems more calm and confident. WHEW! Got to admit, I was a little worried for awhile! I know that this is a hard week for them, but I really feel that they will do well! Ruddgirl, from what my daughter said on her last phone call,  she didnt't think we would be hearing from them until about this time next week due to this being such a busy week for them. But, I always keep my phone close just in case! You never know! Getting close and I'm getting sooo excited!!!! I know everyone else is too! Have a great day!
