~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Chelle:  Only your SR can access that online through the site w/password.  If you speak to your SR,  see if you can get the site/password info.  Only your SR can give this to you.

Just heard from my daughter, ship 14 div 061, USS Arizona. She was shopping at the NEXT with small group. 2 weeks to go! She sounded so excited! Said this past Monday they did air weapons and do actual shooting with live ammo tomorrow. Next week will be fire fighting and damage control. They also have tests two and three next week. Her marching is improving. Says she will be in third column behind flags and section leaders because she is so short. They just got a new flag and are just waiting to get the division flag they designed. Says her job is a stick person in the compartment. They don't get brooms so she runs a cloth on the floor with a stick to clean. She had to stand watch on Christmas Eve so she missed the church service. It was first one by herself and she was really stressed/ nervous about messing up. Had sent her Christmas hug as a decorated piece of paper cut so you can infold and wrap around you. She said it really made her nite because she was feeling so homesick. The 061 division is still lowest ranked. She says demerits come because some people just won't be quiet at chow when they are supposed to. Their brava Zulu points are highest and they could be highest division if demerits didn't keep canceling them out. Her bunk mate is also going to Meridian, MS after PIR as a yeoman. She is from Oregon. Is that maybe your daughter anyone? She said she had a perfect personal inspection. They have both personal and drill inspections next week. They played Christmas music on Christmas Day in the compartments, as long as everyone was quiet. She said that was a real treat, as she really misses music. She is excited to have only 2 more weeks to go, homesick some still, but knows she can get through the rest since she has made it this far. Hope you all hear from your SR' s soon, before battle stations. Thought we would not get a call until after that, so this was surprise treat on our end. a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 TO ALL!!!!!

Just got off the phone with my daughter ( ship 14 Div 062). She said they passed inspection so they got to make calls! She sounded so better than last phone call! More calm. Keep your phones close!!!! Great new years present!

Chelle:  It is possible that your I'm a Sailor call could come at the end of next week, but if not, it will be at the beginning of PIR week.  We cannot post actual dates on here....but please read the BattleStations discussion above in the Forum for more details.

Ruddgirl:  The calls received the Wed before PIR will be from the last divisions to go through BattleStations.  And, yes, Chelle, that is close to PIR....but in the past, believe it or not, the last sailors in a PIR group didn't finish until the morning before PIR.  They don't do that anymore.  Families actually showed up at PIR, expecting to see their sailor at PIR, only to be told that their sailor didn't pass their PFA in time for BattleStations and would not be there.  Very sad for all.

RTC tells all that if you receive a call from your SR telling you that he/she did not pass their final PFA, do not go to PIR unless you receive another call from them saying they have now passed.  This creates alot of problems since that call could come right before PIR (or not at all)....if families head to PIR without hearing back from their SRs that they passed their PFA and are now sailors, they will not be allowed to see their SRs when there if they didn't pass.  Such a hard place for the families to be in....but the Navy way!   If you do not get a call from your SR that they didn't pass their PFA, but don't receive the I'm a Sailor call either, you can call RTC to check the status of your SR, which you may or may not be able to get.  There have been times when a sailor was unable to call their family for some reason with the I'm a Sailor call.

Prayers that all will pass their final PFA and do fine in BattleStations!  Just to let you know, if they don't pass BattleStations (a few don't, many times for falling asleep during the drill since it is 12 hrs overnight), they will go again and pass.  Sometimes even the night before PIR.  In that case, your sleepy sailor will most likely be sitting in the balcony, in uniform, but not marching.

Sorry for way too much info here....hope I didn't confuse anyone!

Just to recap for this group, most likely I'm a Sailor calls will be coming in possibly starting next Thurs afternoon, Fri afternoon, and then at the beginning of PIR week, usually finishing by Wed afternoon.  The BattleStations discussion above in the Forum has more info.

I am collecting the BattleStations dates for this group.  If you have received one from your SR, can you please friend request it to me?  I post a schedule in the BattleStations discussion above once they have completed them (we are not allowed to post the dates publicly...only private message...until they are completed).  Right now, I have received no dates for this PIR group so please send them if you have any!  I have been keeping track of the BattleStations dates since early in 2010 for the PIR groups.

So about when should we expect the "I am a salior" call? I haven't heard from my SR in over a week and his last call was quite short. I am quite stressed at the moment and I need to hear from him! He is in ship 03 Division 63
