For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on January 2, 2014 at 12:40am: PFA=Physical Fitness Assessment. The 1.5 run (which is what trips up some of them), push ups, sit ups. By the way, in A School they continue to test in the PFA and at duty station too. They must pass it every 6 mos at duty station.

Comment by diannep on January 2, 2014 at 12:37am: Boots: The 3rd and final PFA, which each must pass in order to do BattleStations and become sailors, is usually the week before PIR. Any chance that you can book flights on Southwest Airlines into either Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee? Those tickets can be changed with no fee, 2 bags check for free. Milwaukee is a little closer drive to GL. If she doesn't pass her PFA (and lets think she will !) she will call you to tell you that. She would get more chances before her PIR, but would have to pass it be Wed of PIR week in order to have time to do BattleStations with another group and be at PIR.

Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure what will happen with the SRs in this final part of bootcamp. Prayers for all of them!

I can't wait to see my little SR - soon to be S ! I am looking forward to any and all suggestions about PIR and how to make it the best most memorable and enjoyable family event possible!
The roller coaster is about to begin another set of crazy moves. Yet Again I find myself holding on tight and praying for success and happiness for all!
