~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Some leave for bootcamp under "contract" like my son did. Those jobs don't change. But others may not have a "contract" for their job. For instance, they may have told the recruiter that they would like to be a SEAL and they went into bootcamp expecting that. When they take the ASVAB, their score determines what jobs are open to them. My guess is that the reason my son had a contracted/guaranteed A School job is because his was one that was very plentiful in the Navy....the ones that have a smaller number of positions available in the Navy would be harder to get. They may be told by a recruiter that, yes, you can go in with that job goal, but what they are NOT told is that reality may set in during bootcamp.
My son said he never met with a classifier...probably because of the contract he had. Not sure at what point they meet with the classifiers, but it would be during the early to mid part of bootcamp, I would think, so they could start making arrangements for their A School. One of the other active PIR groups was having these meetings this week, so I'll try and see if I can find which one was posting that and see what training week they are in.
Good Morning!
Prayers for you and your family, Lala....may you be comforted knowing that your mom will be celebrating Christmas with the angels!
bikerbabe: I believe you are talking about their meeting with the classifier. This is to either confirm the job they went into the Navy with or to inform them that the job they selected is now overmanned and they will have to select another one.
I just wanted to say thank you so much to all my friends on the PIR group pages. Many of you are new friends but some of you I have know for a few years as we became Navy Moms and have created such a special bond. This site got me through some really hard times and I have often come here to ask for prayers for my Sailor and for my mom who has been battling severe lung disease for a very long time. I am here today to ask you once again for prayers. My mom passed away this morning at 3:00 am. She went peacefully to be with our Lord and her mom and dad and other family members in Heaven. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. I would appreciate it if you all continued to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. And please keep my Sailors and grand baby in your thoughts and prayers as well as they drive home from VA to be with us. God Bless each one of you, Lora (Lala)
Hello Friends!

Good Morning All !
Got my first letter today from my son!!!
nana54, you can get whatever color you like for the ribbons. There are many more pics on my website than on my page here. The double colors are very popular and Navy with yellow/gold behind it with gold letters is probably the most popular :)
Thanks everyone, we will have them home very soon for Christmas :)
