~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

deserrai: Call the PAO today and see what her status is: 847 688 2405
She will get to try again tomorrow, by the way, and then would be at PIR. Don't cancel your plans! Prayers for her....hoping the PAO can tell you something.
Deserrai, it's my understanding that when they pass the PFA they go on to do Battlestations with whichever group is going through... so if she ran yesterday, she would be doing Battlestations until today, and she wouldn't call until after Battlestations... and you're right, she should be able to try up until graduation. Sometimes our SRs hear misinformation... mine has assumed a few things that I'd heard otherwise about(like being able to be "adopted" over Christmas!), and the info from here has been pretty spot on, so keep in mind the saying,"No news is good news"
Ok...I've read this information over and over, but now I'm in this boat so I have questions. My SR failed her final PFA. She called Friday and said she could try again Monday and if she passed Monday she would call, but if she didn't not to come to graduation. It is now Tuesday and I didn't hear from her. I have understood she will get to keep trying up until her PIR. Anyone have info?
Sounds good :)
I think the brands on the bulls are the ranks/rates of the rdc & pos. I haven't talked to Dylan about the shirts I'm only guessing from the letters and phone calls.
Hey Dylan's mom, can you tell what those symbols on the bull's tushies are? perhaps that could shed some light? I know their div has been pretty divided, maybe there's something of that in there... yep, interesting to hear the story!
PHOTO OPS:
Photography is only allowed within the Visitors Center and Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall. They will usually announce it when you walk into the VC.
NO outside photography. They are very serious about this. If security sees it they have the right to confiscate your camera and delete pics...not to mention that your Sailor could get in trouble.
(While on RTC (or any base for that matter) your service member is "responsible" for you. You are there as their guest and your actions are their actions.)
Along the path to the Security check point are photo ops. There are some "museum-like" setups that show the various stages of BC and other Navy scenarios. I did not know this and would've loved to take pics! :-( So, I can't remember it all.
I was too excited at the time to process it when they announced on the Quarterdeck (think "lobby" -though the Q is much more), but remember it.
Loving coming here and watching that clock roll down! Nearly all packed, just a few last details with the person who will be here while we are gone (daughter is DD, she's staying with a care person back home) & sorting out the airport parking...
Thanks VicPat :)
