Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by diannep on November 30, 2012 at 11:27pm: Just some info, ladies. The ship number is actually their "barracks" number. There are various divisions housed in the same ship. The division number is who they are living with/training with....and they also train with their brother division.

conjonsmom: The piks are probably going to be on Recruit Training Command's page on FB. Just put "Recruit Training Command" in the search bar on FB and you are there! Lots of info there too.

Watch for Lala Ribbon Queen (she makes gorgeous PIR ribbons for you all to wear....) to join her. Her pik icon will be a pik of her ribbons. Her daughter was in the 900 division of her PIR group...so Lala has lots of info for you on the "mechanics" of the 900 division. When you see her on here, just ask her!

Also there was a post somewhere (?-I've signed up for like 4 groups) that said pictures from our SR group arriving on Nov 19 is on Facebook-Naval Service Command page.

450 that came in that one night - yikes! Check for your SB!

@ JLMom. Great to finally have someone in my daughters ship and DIV. maybe they have become friends I understand there r 88 SR in each DIV but u never know. Where r u from? I hope we can meet at the a Meet and Greet. But glad we r all getting those letters. Can't wait to hear from our SR's. :)

I've been asking people all day what that means because my son doesn't play an instrument. They said it could be rifle drill/Honor Guard/Flag Guard, etc. Would that sound like something your SR would do?
