~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thank you for this PIR.. my son is graduating this date. Although I have not received an official letter as of yet, his recruiter here at home gave me his PIR information. I hope he is receiving my letters. Maybe a phone call around christmas would be Nice! Ship 14 Div o65.
CONJONSMOM - watch this.. it will help give you an idea.. and yes there are rifles but they just hold them - Its the drill team that does the tricks.. This video is of a 900 division at PIR.. They open the ceremony
@JohnsMom(Monica)ship13div063 and @ JamieSHIP13DIV067
Thanks ladies! Monica, If he's marching with the band he'll be playing the kazoo or something ha. Jamie, hope you're right that it's flags. Someone said it might be rifles - yikes he's never even held a gun! This military stuff is going to take some time to get used to....
@conjonsmom - My dght was in the performance division. She grad on March 4th 2012.. She doesn't play any instruments.. They have many things for the recruits to do. Flag holders and etc. 900 division has more responsibilities than other divisions
Hi Ladies - I have to say I am one happy Mom right now, I received a phone call from my daughter a few hours ago (she needed information for her security clearance) the call lasted 20 minutes - she was all business in the beginning and I could tell that someone was standing with her, thankfully he walked away and gave her some time to talk to me. She sounded great! P-Days just ended for them yesterday so they are in W1-1 (week1/day1 of training). her rack mate is a 20 yr old from florida who's last name starts with a P, and will be heading to P'cola for A school also. - if you think this may be you PM me, I do have her last name. confirmed that graduation for her division is definately 1/18/13. she got yelled at once, but nothing bad at all, they have not started PT yet, but will very soon. oh yeah she told me her job is the head cleaner LOL - really I took to much pleasure from that and we both had a good laugh, just one more thing that I could not get my children to do, but the Navy has. Oh I just realized I didnt ask her how the food was. when my son was in I kept a running list of questions next to the phone, after his first call I felt terrible that I forgot to ask him about his wisdom teeth being pulled and I didnt want that to happen again - so that pad really help. Time to start my list again. she wasnt sure when the next time she can call - but Im hoping its real soon. she did say that she wrote me a long letter, but was not sure if it has been mailed yet.
YAY - just got the form letter but question? My son is Ship 2/Div 910. PIR 1/18. All I have read is that 900's are performing divisions and my son wouldn't know a musical instrument if he saw one - ha - no way he could be in the band. Anyone have a SR in the div or know more about it or what else they might do? Thanks!
