N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Good Morning Ladies.  Hoping that more boxes and form letters (maybe?) arrive at your houses today!  Remember, post any questions you have, and we will be happy to try and help.  Since pmgcakes has been through this before, she will be a great asset to this group to since she is also a N4Moms veteran!  Welcome, pmgcakes, and we look forward to your input for the ladies here!

WE got the box on Monday and the letter today.  The box was interesting.  He had his back pack in there with an empty water bottle.  Seriously?  Could he not throw it away?  I am doing amazingly well.  I think because he was so content with his decision.  Keep praying for all the kids every day that they stay strong.  Can't wait to make reservations:0

This is round two for me, my son finally made it to the fleet this past September after 22 months of training.  my daughter left on the 20th for Boot Camp, even though I've been thru this before it doesnt make it any easier.  I got her box on Tuesday night and found a note in the tiny pocket,  I guess she remembered how much her brothers note meant to me,  she also, sent home her small black wallet with her stamps and bandaides inside.  I was hopeful for a letter today, but no luck.  we live in NY and it does take a little longer for the mail to reach us.  I too worry about the yelling but its all part of the training process from  civilian to sailor,   They need to come together and work as a team, once that is done BC will get easier for them and us too  :)

I got my son's box yesterday.  He kept his black velcro wallet.  He had also taken official copies of his HS transcript and college transcripts (the navy had lost them twice before), and he kept those, cause they weren't in the box.

@crismom3, wow,i thought I was the only one! sometimes I feel like a wimp too when I think of people yelling at my baby! Lol, even though they're 'adults' and we are proud of the responsible grown ups they're becoming, there will always be that wanting to protect them from the world! I miss just being able to call her and going to the gym with her.... It has been an adjustment for sure. They will get through it though, and it is going to be soooo awesome to see them at their PIR!

Just got my son's form letter today. Made my day! I can hardly wait until Jan 18th.  This has got to be one of the hardest times of my life, I feel like such a whimp for missing him so much. I just hope and pray they are all surviving this time. Every time I think of him getting screamed at by someone other than me, I cry.  LOL.  I know they will all come out of this perfectly fine, but I miss my kid!
