~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

No matter where our recruit is, we mom's are in this together. Every division standing strong with mom's right behind them. None of you discount what you have done for your recruit/sailor. Your unwavering support is a major part of the successes they are accomplishing. To the veteran mom's on here, we ALL thank you for your support that you have given us along this journey. We are forever bonded together in this new family. HOOYAH!!
serious congratulations to all of you getting calls!!!
zaksmom - If they don't pass their PFA (or any part of their training that could change their status for graduating) then yes, they are granted a call home to let someone know. Will add extra prayres for your son (and any) that are having trouble with injuries.
Here is some info about status changes and contact.
This from RTC website FAQ's:
Q.
My recruit failed their fitness test (run) or swim qualification. When will he/she graduate or what is their status?
A.
While recruits are listed in this status, they are not scheduled to graduate. They will not get another phone call until their status changes, meaning: They have passed their test. If they pass before their graduation date, they will complete Battle Stations with whatever division is going through it next. If they pass their test after their original division has graduated, they will then go directly on to their A School. They will not participate in a graduation ceremony as their division would have already graduated and we do not wish to delay their A School training any further.
…and the Family Guide from RTC “Phone Calls sectiuon:
Recruits will be granted a phone call when they fail a training requirement, or become injured or ill, which could delay their graduation.
Well, I just got the "I'm a sailor call" too, but I had to pry it out of him! I said, um, is there something you want to tell me? "Oh yeah, I passed everything." Head hitting the desk. I thought they were suppose to say "I'm a sailor" :) Poor guy, he sounded so tired. They haven't slept yet today. He said that he didn't know what they were going to do for the next week.
He also doesn't know yet where he goes after boot camp. He is going to be a submariner, this much we know, but he doesn't know if he will go to A school, which is in GL, or straight to Sub School, which is in CT. I think it depends on when sub school starts. Anyone know about this? He said he'll know by Friday - but I want to know ahead of time because if he is going to be leaving on Saturday at the airport, I can cancel the hotel for Sunday and go back home (we're driving). We're going to have our 84 yr old Grandma with us and i've already seen Chicago. Only going to see my son :) Good luck to everyone else in waiting to get your calls. Mine came shortly after 4pm CST.
Obnoxred, Great news! That's a wonderful blessing for today. Congrats to your sailor and to you too!
Lola: His BattleStations won't be until next week. So hopefully, he passed today. But if not, he should get to try again on Monday and still do BattleStations with them---he actually would get another try on Wed, and then do BattleStations with another group, which would allow him to be at PIR.
This happens in every PIR group and most will pass before PIR. Hoping he will too! Just know that you most likely will not get a call that he has passed his PFA...they normally don't let them do that...they have to wait until they have passed BattleStations.
Here's hoping that you hear something by early next week!
Lola~ He's going to do this!! I know it! We are all sending prays, this is going to happen!
