OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

deserrai... if it was about the approximate date of battle stations, yes, I got it. Thanks!  Did you get my message back?

My son was Div 908, graduated yesterday, flew to A school today. PIR was awesome! We went to Sarge's M&G. Not crowded at all as its in a large venue. The food was good & free, although you can make a donation since Sarge & his wife do this every week! Soft drinks and alcohol can be purchased at the bar. Sarge provides lots of very useful information as diannep said.

If your SR is in 910, they will be performing/working their own PIR and won't march in as a division. They will already be in the Drill Hall and if you get there early, you can find them and possibly get early hugs and pictures. My son was Color Guard and he told us where to find him when he called to tell us "I am a United States Sailor".

Obnoxred...just messaged you. I hope it comes through. My phone is weird.

I would like to "plug" Sarges MeetandGreet.  You will get such great info there about PIR weekend...shortcuts to RTC on PIR morning, restaurants with discounts for your sailors, etc.  Yes, it may be the most crowded, but we have never had a bad word about his MeetandGreets.  Nothing but praises!  So....consider going to his if you can.  Sometimes you can manage to get to a couple of them since they are all pretty close together.

You all on the FB page....just be careful what you are talking about over there....if you don't talk about it on here, don't talk about it on there!  Remember....closed group or not....you never know who you are letting into your group.  So just keep OPSEC in mind.

Zaksmom. I only did Facebook with my phone so it will be easy. Just get on Facebook and in the "search" box type in PIR and when you do that groups will come up and click on the one that's days PIR 01-18-13 and the DIV #'s. you will see it but Lola may be able to help you too. We will get you there. :))))
Comment by D'sMomMary on January 5, 2013 at 7:08pm

oh, that would be tough right now! We just recently moved into "town" after 20 years in the middle of nowhere with just very slow dialup, so I get that!

Comment by D'sMomMary on January 5, 2013 at 6:56pm

Everyone I've read about is going to Sarges, we are going to Flanagans, little less crowded maybe and my husband liked the snacks they are serving there. Though less crowded sorta defeats the purpose of "meet", lol!
