~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Lola:  No, they normally do not fly out the night of PIR.  However, they are bussed to the airports in the wee hours (around 1 or 2 a.m.) of the morning to wait for their flights.  That is when you can meet them at the airport, deliver personal items to them, obtain an airlines gate pass, and wait with them until their plane departs.

As far as those trying to pass that run, it is amazing how encouraging the others will be to them.  It is also amazing at how much they can improve at one time!  They have a little time here, so hopefully are working hard and will get there.  Here's what happens if they don't pass it before their division does BattleStations:

They will be placed in the FIT division.  They will be able to try every other day...many will get this done before PIR...once they pass, they go with the next group going through BattleStations and will be at PIR...they could even go through BattleStations the night before PIR, which would mean they will be sitting in the balcony, too tired to march (although in the past, some have managed to still march!).

If they don't pass before PIR, then they stay in FIT and keep trying.  As long as they are improving, they get more tries.  Once they pass, they will do BattleStations and head straight to A School, no PIR.

Prayers that they all pass in these next few days!

On the lack of phone calls...my son was asmoed (setback) for a week when he was up there--during his 3rd week of training.  His first division got to call pretty often...he was there for about 4.5 weeks and probably called about 3 times.  Then, when placed in another division, with 4 more weeks of bootcamp, he called maybe 2 times.  And that may have just been the I'm a Sailor call and then a "freebie" call during PIR week when they had a pizza party (can't remember since it was back in 2009/2010).  Every division is different...some get more calls than others.  I know the NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS theory is hard to go on all of the time because you long to talk to them!  But the silence really does mean that they are progressing as they need to!

Good Morning All!

Lola2010, thank you for the encouraging words. I know I worry too much, but that's being a mom, right?

well, won't those "I'm a sailor" calls in a couple of weeks be that much sweeter! (yeah, I keep telling myself that, lol!)  I bet our Div068's will look back on this and be able to see that they had a way more demanding time at BC, and be able to hold their heads a little higher because of it.

@zachsmom, I think there is a whole division of nurses on here:)

I am hoping for some phone calls from div 68! "No news is good news"only goes so far. It seems that when I get to the point I can't stand it anymore, I get mail or a call. Keep your head's up and keep sending your letters. Our sailors need all the support we can give and it makes us feel better. 15.5 days til we are traveling families!!!!

I was just going to post that another holiday came and went with no phone call. I am also dying to know how things are going. Especially since my daughter had not passed the running part of her pfa as of the last I heard. I'm so worried she won't pass it before her division does battlestations.

Not sure what's up with 068, no call at Christmas and now no call on New Years.
Am on pins and needles wanting to hear how he did with hell week tests.

Ohare or Midway.  They use both.  The airports are about 40 minutes (OHare) to an hour (Midway) from GL.  You could get a room there, but the sailors arrive at the airport around 1 or 2 a.m. usually, so if you plan to meet them then, you won't need a hotel room for long.  I always tell people to drop off your sailors at RTC (usually at 8 or 9) and then go back to your hotel room for a few hours of sleep before heading to the airport to meet your sailors.  They all are bussed out at the same time to wait for flights.  Some may not fly out until the afternoon or later...others may leave around 6 or 6:30 a.m..  Your sailor should have flight info shortly before PIR, but for sure by PIR day.

If our sailor is expected to take a flight out Saturday morning, would it be best to get a hotel for Friday night at the airport?

Do they usually fly out of O"Hare?  He is headed to Pensacola
