~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Krissy: I am so very sorry....ugh. That happens to many and it is very frustrating, of course. No guarantee that he can call back since I'm assuming these were division calls...in the current PIR groups there, seems that some divisions have been allowed to call over the past couple of days, which I'm guessing is their "Christmas" call. But we can always hope!
rkh, I really wish it weren't so confusing for div 068, It was helping so much to follow along with what I thought was happening each day, then we got the first letter and realized we were totally off. Well, I guess it's better than the old days when the whole time was a mystery...
Krissy: Thinking that 067/068 are in training week 3 now. Not sure if they are on "hold" today since yesterday, the president declared today to be a federal holiday. For Christmas they are on hold. So if that is true for two days, the day count will back up 2 days. But they get it all done!
Happy Christmas Eve to everyone!
Good Morning everyone, Happy Christmas Eve. I know it's hard with your recruits away at boot camp but I hope you are enjoying the holidays and spending some time with other family members. One thing I am sure of, your recruits would want you to be happy and celebrate this time with your family. Take lots of pics so you can share them with your recruit. Maybe even make a "Flat Stanley" of your recruit and have him in some Christmas pictures. Then send one to your soon to be Sailors. I bet they would love it :) In case you don't know what a flat Stanley is here is a description :) Enjoy, have fun, and God Bless you all <3
Flat Stanley can be a boy or you could make it a girl. You draw it and decorate it however you like. Then he/she goes on an adventure. You could take him shopping, to the park, to dinner, to visit all your family and friends for Christmas, even have him/her at the Christmas dinner or wrapping or opening a present. Take pics and then send a couple of the best ones to your recruit. My niece was doing this as a school project when my daughter was joining the Navy. She mailed Flat Stanley to us and we took him to the going away party and to MEPS and he joined the Navy as well lol. Then we made him a Sailor outfit and mailed him back to the school. It was a lot of fun taking all the pics and writing about his adventure in boot camp :) There have been several moms on this site who did this and then took flat Stanley to the Meet and Greet and PIR. It was a lot of fun to see all the pics and their Sailors really got a kick out of it. Anything to make them laugh or put a smile on their face and to put a smile on your face as well. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} Merry Christmas
That is awesome Ellen, so happy you have him home for Christmas. We are enjoying having our Sailors home as well :)
pmgcakes, I am so glad you got that call finally :) And I hope your Sailor son does come home for Christmas, that would be awesome.
Diannep is right about the 900 divisions. They normally do perform at two PIR's before their own as long as there are PIR groups on those weeks. Most of the recruits in the performing divisions have high ASVAB scores because they know they won't have to spend as much time studying for tests and that leaves more time for practice. A lot of them also have band, marching, drill, or choir experience. There are actually 3 performing divisions and they rotate each week. One is a Ship Staff division and they handle all the "working" parts of the performance. They are greeters, door holders, take care of the VIP's, could be body snatchers or side boys/girls. Body Snatchers walk up and down each row of recruits telling them not to lock their knees and making eye contact. They are looking for anyone who looks like they may pass out and they try to catch them if they do. It is hard to stand in one position for so long and if you lock your knees it cuts off the circulation and causes you to faint. Side boys/girls are the ones who line up in the center of the ceremony hall forming two lines that the VIP's walk through when they are introduced during the ceremony. Another performing group is the color guard and they carry and perform with the 50 state flags. The last group is know as the Triple Threat and they normally have to try out to get into this division. They are made up by the band, the drill team and the choir. The performance these Sailors all put on is amazing and you will never forget it. My daughter was a part of the choir and when I heard her voice singing at PIR was one of the happiest moments of my life. I can't even explain the feeling but you all will be just as proud of your Sailors too :)
Thats great Ellen, so happy for you! Im secretly hoping that my Sailor son will be walking in the door with in the next 24 hrs. he is stationed in Groton, Ct and his actual leave doesnt start until the 27th. Got to speak with my daughter last night, for about 10 mins horrible connection and I could hardly hear her. but it was a relief that she finally called. she missed the division calls 2 weeks ago, cause she was at dental. hoping we get another call within the next few days. Merry Christmas
