OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just got a call from my son!!  It was only 5 minutes, but I loved every second!  So happy!  He said he is doing well.  Gosh, I feel like I'm on Survivor hearing from my family for the first time in 39 days.  It truly is an awesome feeling.  He loves the letters, he also said that the Division loved the Christmas cards that the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students sent to them.  He said the division is writing the kids back.....SWEEEEEET!!!  Ahhhh, I've had my Christmas.  Here's wishing for you all to have yours too.  Merry Christmas  everyone!

I love the new pic at the top of the group pages with all the Christmas lights. It looks so pretty :) I have tried taking some pics of our house with all the lights but they don't look as good. Wish I knew how to take a really good pic of them :) I want to use it for a Christmas Card next year. I hope everyone is having a great day.

From what my SR has told me is that the P-hold week didn't start until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. So even though they were at RTC for a week it didn't count. She told me yesterday that Wed. would be the halfway point and that 3-1 started for her today(I think?). Anyway, trying not to get too caught up in what days she's in. It's so confusing for me. I'm just praying she passes all of her tests and makes it to PIR. Which in case anyone is wondering they don't know what that means.

TXNavyDad-I'm so jealous you get your SR for Christmas. It's too bad it's under the wrong circumstances. Sounds like he needs to go another Recruiting office the next time. My SR's recruiter left for Spain as soon as she signed on, so she was left with whoever was left in the office and they've really shown that they don't care. We've had absolutely no communication from them. From all that I've read on here, it seems that that is very important. A recruiter he likes what he does and makes sure it's right.

SCProud-Yes if they get pushed back we get a call right away, from what I've read. I'm sorry you missed your call.() That's gotta be hard too.

Might I make a suggestion here. Last week I went through every topic on the pages list. It answered questions that I have already asked and new ones that I've thought of. It really put my mind at ease.

conjonsmom:  As long as the watches are black or silver and not gold (for officers), that should be ok.

The divisions are in training week 3 this week, some part way through, some almost done.  They don't all have training weeks that run M-F by day number. Meaning, that some may have started 3-1  (week 3, day 1) yesterday, others may have been on 3-2 or 3-3, etc.  Yep, Hell Week is next week for most of this group, starting the end of this week for some others.  They will be very busy during that time and would appreciate lots of encouragement letters!

I found the thread on this site to have a lot of BC info, especially in regard to "hell week". http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?s=407498398ebe13729add...
