Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I lecture on Monday nights and i had my cell on the podium-i saw it light up and the 847 area code, I yelled OMG its my son from boot camp and ran out of the room yelling take your dinner break now!!, Helloooo!!?? LOL, My students were teasing me how silly I looked :)

I missed my daughters call last week I never got to tell her I love her but I know she knows I do I write it in my letters to her bunches of times. Don't worry we got 30 MORE DAYS MOMS!!!!!! YAHHHHH!!!!!:)))))

Comment by BTsmom on December 17, 2012 at 8:26pm: Got my first phone call. Wouldn't you know we went to the movies today and I forgot my phone. I told my husband it would be my luck that today is when she would call. But...we had been home about 15 minutes when she called! Thank you Jesus. It was really good to hear her voice. I guess they get IT a lot. :-( She got to talk to me for a while but I didn't say I love you, & handed the phone to her sister, who had to cut it short, who handed it to Dad, who handed it to her brother and he said hello and she was cut off. A little broken right now. He said it was okay but you know us mama's I should have said I loved her. She wants "flip-flops and a family siesta" for PIR day. Wed. is the halfway point. Can't wait.
