~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

On the PFA (fitness) tests. They take 3 of them. The final one is the MUST PASS one so they have time. They will keep working hard on the areas that they are failing in (they do pushups, situps, run).
As far as the laptop, once your sailors are off of RTC, you can give them things like that. That would mean: Once the GL A School students move over to the A School base (right after PIR), they can return from liberty with them. For those flying out, you can meet them at the airport and give phones/laptops/etc to them then. Hopefully all will fit in their Navy-issued luggage: Large seabag, garment bag (uniforms)...both of these checked luggage, and a carry on backpack.
That is awesome DrewsMom and I just bet she will. This is my daughters 3rd Christmas in the Navy and the first one she will be home for since she joined so you can understand why i am so super excited. I feel like that little kid on TV who is about to go to Disney and he says "I'm too excited to sleep" lol I still have several homemade gifts to finish this week :)
Thanks, Krissy!
My husband and I did a mad rush and decorated the house, tree included, the day before our son left. We had stockings and presents and everything. I added a couple of strings of Navy blue lights to the tree, and we have one of those electric candles in a blue candleholder in the window, that will stay after the rest is put away. I suspect our daughter is going to enjoy being the center of attention on Christmas morning, though.
I thought i would spread some Christmas Cheer and see what all of you are doing to stay busy and try not to miss your recruits too much. Is your tree up and decorated? Your house? Did you do a military theme? I have seen lots of those on facebook :) Do yuo have an Elf on the Shelf? Are you making any handmade gifts? What inspires you? I was inspired by a quote from Robin Roberts on Good Morning America; she said "When your friends are your family, and your family are your friends, then that's when you know you are truly blessed" So I am using the quote to make gifts for some of our friends who seem more like family. When I get one finished I will post a pic :) I love making homemade gifts and I am super excited for Christmas. We are truly Blessed <3
so, graduation gift question (I've searched here and can't find an answer) our son wants to be able to skype once he gets to A school. Would it be practical to give him a laptop, or should I ship it to him at A school?
Hi Krissy! My son didn't pass his either, and seemed very discouraged about it. I'd like to understand more about it too, but I think it means they can't move up to E2 before PIR?
Congrats on the calls received yesterday! Hope there are more today!
Good Morning All!
Woo Hoo got my call today, so relieved to hear his voice. Did the happy dance as he talked and talked and then bawled my eyes out after the call just missing him, proud of him, happy that he's alive and doing well-just overwhelming and felt so good to hear he's doing OK. Praying for all the other mom's out there to get their call soon.
