Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Here is their link http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp

Comment by Glowbug3535 on December 12, 2012 at 3:27pm: around 9:30 this morning my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number and thought maybe it was a telemarketer. I decided to answer it and glad that I did. The word MOM has never sounded so sweet to me. It was my son calling! The Navy had him call to ask about medical records that they needed. I got to tell him the info. and then a lady came on and gave me the rest of the info that I needed. She then told me that she had kids in the Navy and would give me a few minutes to talk to him. From one mom to another she is the greatest! He sounded ok but said that he is very tired. He told my husband that he is sleep deprived. He did say mom do not send any food and I told him that I heard what happens when that is done. This has been the best thing to happen since he has left. I managed not to cry while we were on the phone with him but boy did the tears flow after that! I can't wait till Jan.18th. so that we can all see our sons & daughters! I will be praying for all of them till then! Thanks for everyone on here who is so supportive!

You are so right Diannep, no time at all. I have too much work to do :) I will get it all done and I will feel better before my family and Sailors come home for Christmas!!!
