~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Praying for Brett and his family, diannep.
YIKES! -10 degree in Chicago??? Let's hope for a huge heat wave before you all make your way to GL!
Yes, Alison: They should have their flight info by PIR.
bethw: I know of a sailor who waited in Pensacola for more than two months to class up back in 2009! So it does happen. By the way, please pray for this sailor. His name is Brett, I grew up with his mom, his grandparents are my parents' best friends. He was shot in Jacksonville FL on Oct 17th while at his "outside" job as a personal trainer. Was intervening in an attempted mugging of a man at an apt complex. He should have died that night--should have bled to death...but God is good! He is a miracle of all miracle. Lost a kidney, lost alot of his colon (still has colostomy bag but will be reversed eventually), lost his lower right leg (due to initial blood loss from severing of artery to the leg), has endured about 8-10 surgeries at this point. His wife was 7 mos pregnant with their 2nd child, born in Dec (he wasn't there for the birth). They have a son too who is now 18 mos old and the "apple of his daddy's eye." It has been a horrendous journey, but they are a family of wonderful Christian faith. Brett has now been moved to Tampa to the VA hospital there. He had a setback there, enduring two more surgeries within the past 10 days, but hopefully is ready for his rehabilitation now...of course, his wife and two children are in Jax...visiting when they can. The "2 moms" have been stoic...and have given up their own lives to be there for their children and grandchildren (both live in Miami). Please pray for Brett and his family....he was in the process of being discharged when this happened....thank God that was stopped and the Navy is in charge!
Heidi: Thanks for the plug for Sarge. I never got to meet him, but know that he is a gentle soul with a heart for the Navy families. Some weeks, in fact-- maybe many weeks, he/his wife are still out of pocket quite a bit even with the donation bucket. He loves helping you all!
Good Morning Everyone!
Okay, I am supposed to be studying but I have become an information junkie. LOL I keep going from this website back to our FB website. I just feel like I can't get enough info about our SR's and what they are up too. I think I need an intervention!!!!!!!
Dm (Ship 03 div 075): My SR said the dates were based on him leaving for boot camp Dec. 26, but he left Dec. 3rd. He told me that it may change on Wed. I hope so, I am ready for this to be over.
bethw: Did he end up leaving for boot camp early too? I hope the date changes.
Dm and bethw: I think our SR's know each other. The SR's going to SA all grouped together from what I gathered from my son. It would be great to meet both of you. I will be at Sarge's (might be a little later) and I am staying at SpringHill Suites.
Thank you diannep. It would be great to be with him for a few days, but they will probably ship him out. :)
Dm(Ship 03 Division 075): Is your SR going to San Antonio? If so message me his name, our SR's may be friends.
Will do HeidiB. Thanks for the info.
I don't know if anyone else thought that Sarge owned the Sundance Saloon, but I did. After speaking with him, this is not the case. The owners allow him to use the facility every Thursday and he is paying out of his own pocket to feed all of us. I know he sets a donation bucket out so I was hoping that everyone will show him our appreciation for all he does for our sailors since he will be feeding the families of 15 divisions next Thursday. Thank you Sarge for all you do :)
