Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Sarge and his crew were awesome shlepping us from one place to another and providing solid information. Sarge's M&G was really great and yes, Chicago was very cold. We are so proud of all the young men and women, God bless every single one of them. My son was so happy to see us and I couldn't stop crying, it truly was an exciting and once in a lifetime experience. I'm also very excited to say that I met some of you and it was great. I only hope that we stay in touch even if it's only a hi and bye once in awhile. I would like to thank everyone who made our BC journey a lot smoother! God bless every single one of YOU!
BTW, The Navy Lodge was great, Sarge's meet and greet was full of lots of information and Chicago was very cold!!!

My husband and I totally enjoyed the time with our son and getting to see him off at the air port. Thanks for all the suggestions and heads up on things. I found it very helpful.

Comment by Mommahead on January 28, 2013 at 9:16pm: I didn't go to Chicago...am holding out for Spring Break in Monterey, but it was an amazing, though short, time for my hubby and daughter to have time together. She so needed a little TLC. Glad to eat, shower, and sleep in a real bed. It's quite amazing to see the maturity and the knowledge that she is on her own. She is so excited about going to DLI and was happy to sleep in on Sunday and have no one yelling at her! Now, every waking thought will NOT be about Bootcamp, thank goodness!

He was very sad we could not have more time as he was one of the last processed through. Another Sailor waited for him and walked with him. It was hard to leave him with tears in his eyes...but so nice to see a shipmate stand by him. :,,-)

Comment by 3athlete on January 27, 2013 at 11:34pm: So - other thing that I wanted to say is that in going to the airport, it allowed my husband and I to sit back and just observe his interactions with his shipmates and we really enjoyed that. Seeing the maturity and leadership skills that we observed in just that short time. All Sailors appeared to be extremely nice and supportive of one another. So nice to see.

Our sailor has texted with us 3 times since arrival in San Antonio - Sounds very happy and upbeat. Says that everyone if "very pleasant and nice" - which I guess means no one is yelling at them.... Looking forward to hearing from him by phone in the next day or so. Well we are certainly off to a new adventure from here ladies! Kathy
