For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by jdrs1606 on January 5, 2013 at 4:45am: My son is in Div 072. We received 2 letters and 2 phone calls. he also wrote his girlfriend and a neighbor. Just 20 days to go. He will go to 'A' school in Mississippi. Anyone else going there?

Comment by diannep on January 4, 2013 at 11:59pm: Ducky: No, divisions will make PIR....some individuals may not. What you are describing is very normal. Some divisions just have a harder time coming together, but they eventually do. So try not to worry!

While we have not talked to our son since that time we have consistently received weekly letters. His responses have been positive in regard to his division. Hoping that all is going well with the division. Our family anxiously awaits PIR as you do. Then off to San Antonio!!

Comment by Mommahead on January 4, 2013 at 10:04pm: Ducky...what language did your daughter get? That means they will be at DLI together! Not in CTI group yet...was just needing to get through bootcamp first! We've already planned a trip to Monterey in March!

Comment by Ducky on January 4, 2013 at 9:57pm: SRMom....my daughter is also CTI, guess our girls will be going together. Mine was relieved after the ranking meeting, both with her ranking and getting her language. Monterey sounds great, are you in the CTI group yet?

Comment by Mommahead on January 4, 2013 at 9:29pm: Ducky and Dana...our last call was on the 19th too...it was all of 3 minutes and then she was being yelled out to get off. Div 911 seems to have some issues too. We just got letters today that were written last Sunday. We know that CTI's got their languages for A-School, so it's a relief knowing what happens after PIR. I do wonder if it's mostly the girls, although my daughter is most happy that she has not been singled out!

My daughter is saying that many of the girls in her division are not the neatest and leave messes that would be so easy to deal with if they just would, so that is one problem and anytime you get a bunch of girls together, it is generally not pretty. But you would think the drama would have died down by now....
