Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yes, KerriH:  Some are in the 4th week of training now.  Called Hell Week.  Very busy week, lots of inspections, but they get through it!

PIR Jan 25th.  Would that make this week 4 of training?  I understand week 4 is one of the worst weeks in training.

PIR is treated the same as returning from deployment, you can hug them and kiss them. Once they are out of the PIR hall and are out in public they cant hold hands but you can take their left arm. The right hand must remain free to salute. They are also not allowed to walk and talk on a cell phone, not allowed to drive a car etc. They will know all the rules for sure :) I will look for that link and add it when I find it :)

Lemonelephant...I have seen on here somewhere that our new sailors will only be able to gently hug their loved ones.  Can you put a link as to what is allowed.  I seen where they can't hold hands with their wives or girlfriends while walking in uniform.  I'm sure all our recruits will know this information but to prevent the significant others from having hurt feelings can you post a link to this info.  Thanks

THank you so much for the heads up on the phone call today!!! I know we just spoke to him last week, but what a relief again to hear his voice again :) Just in those few days he has gotten sick, but still sounded up beat.. Hope everyone else got their calls today. Happy New Years Eve everyone :)

Good morning everyone. When my daughter was at boot camp I made a questionnaire to send to her. I added in all the questions that I had been asking her in my letters but had not received answers to. I made it a little funny to make her smile and I added a paragraph of encouragement to help her get through battle stations. I added it to the discussions above so you can share it with your recruit as well. You can copy and paste it and print it out to send with your next letter. You may have to tweak it a little bit since my Sailor is a girl :-) Feel free to make it your own. I hope it will brighten your Soon to be Sailors day as much as it did mine. Be sure to include a self-addressed envelope so they are more likely to send it back.

Good morning everyone! Thank you for the information about the phone calls today :) I have alerted the masses haha!! i just went on pirgifts and wasn't sure which one to get as my SR started on ship 14 and is now on 03. I will probably get both, however do we know if there is a chance they could move again?
