Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Yahoo.  Our mail came really late today - like 6:30 PM - but we received not 1 but 3 letters (in 2 envelopes).  So good to hear from our son.  He sounds like he is actually thriving and having fun.   He tells us that things are going well and his Division has pulled together and is working well.  He loves PT and actually says it is not all that hard.  He left here very physically fit and bulked up with his weight training regime that he had prior to BC and now says that he has the nickname of Thor because of his size.  Funny.   He is starting to look forward and get excited about A School.  Wahoo!   Well what a great day!  Kathy

Lovely Navy Lady, no worries, you are new to the Navy world and we are all learning.    If you hover over the top right side of your comment and you will see an X.  If you click on the X, it will delete the comment with the last name.   You can repost  your comment again, just don't add the name.  We always advise observing OPSEC rules early, as it's a good way to get in the habit of doing so.   Thank you.

I am guessing that the divisions getting the calls on 12/31 are 75 and 76 as a reward.  My SR's division keeps losing that privilege, so I doubt that they will get the call.  I will keep my phone close by as always on the off chance that they may finally be allowed a call at some point that day.

Craig I love that quote and it is a great one to pass on to our sailors!! Thanks for posting.

Comment by diannep on December 29, 2012 at 10:26am

shannon:  I think what Lovely Navy Lady meant is that the Chief of either 075 or 076 (not sure which division) is taking the SRs to make their phone calls during that time.

Lovely Navy Lady:  Thanks for the info on the SR who scored a perfect 5.0...HOOYAH to him for his great work !...but we can't disclose last names on this site.  Could you repost without the name?  Thanks!

Comment by Craig on December 29, 2012 at 12:25am

This might be good to pass on to your sailors.  It sure means a lot to me.
