~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Wow Betsy, that is so cool that he is experiencing all of that. How exciting. I hope he is able to get pics of his adventures :)
Good afternoon everyone! Hope yall are having a great day. Got a call from my SR Wednesday evening and have been walking in the clouds ever since! I was one sad sack by Christmas evening...had so hoped for a call and when I didn't get one I had tried to tell myself maybe a letter would come in the mail the next day. Talk about a looong face when it didnt and the tears would not stay back! LOL This was our first Christmas apart and I was feeling it!! He sounded so wonderful and it did wonders for my heart to talk to him and hear him laugh. I must say I am proud of myself cause I did not cry while talking to him and didn't really feel like I was gonna break down until it came time to say goodbye. He also informed me that he would be carrying the division flag!! Talk about one proud momma!! But my hat is off to all you ladies on here cause you also have a loved one going through the same thing as my son and doing it bravely! I include all my son's shipmates and all the men and women at Great Lakes in my prayers each day and their families. This is such a big step and definately life changing for them we can only love them as they go through this and makes their ways in the world.
Good afternoon, everyone!
I've been spending well needed time with the family this last week. My youngest daughter is home from college for a few weeks (she attends Univ. of NM and we live in MD) so we have been shopping, visiting relatives and just catching up. We also had our oldest daughter and our grandchildren here for a couple of days. Next week my middle daughter will be in town from CO. :)
My sailor (our youngest of our 5) spent his Christmas time in Dubai! He is on the only aircraft carrier which is currently deployed. He said that he has a blast, while there. So far, since his deployment began in August, he has had port calls in Malaysia, Thailand and Dubai (United Arab Emirates). He has ridden two elephants and a camel, snorkeled in Thailand and been on a sunrise safari. He said that the coolest thing was that he got to hold a falcon. Although I missed him terribly, as this is his first Christmas away from home, I am so happy that his port calls have been very welcomed and a lot of fun for them. These are just some of the cool things that your soon-to-be sailors will be doing once their boot camp and training are over. Of course they obviously work very hard while on deployment, but it's so good to know that they are able to have some time to relax, enjoy themselves and make some once in a lifetime memories as well. :)
We got our call Wed! It was GREAT!!! He had 20 min so we passed the phone around to everyone. He is Section leader, on watch and misses listening to music the most! He said the food is great and he eats a lot. Sounded like they had a huge feast for Christmas. He talked so much! It was awesome. His little sister cried after because he said he loved her. Not words we ever heard from him but I always told his sisters deep down he does.
Finally received a call from my SR!!! Woohoo! He sounded great!! The call got cut short after about 5 min but it was so good to hear from him. I am so proud of him. I can't imagine how tough it is for our SR's to be away from their families, especially at Christmas. I am saying a prayer for everyone of them. It's almost over!!!! :)
Good Morning All!
Good morning ! We received another round of letters and our phone call!! OH my was it great to hear his voice and to hear how good he was doing!!! Does the mothers heart good... Dm (ship 03 Div 075) my SR is with yours and he said the same thing they are finally getting it together but all doing good! After he spoke to me he called his girlfriend and they were cut short also... He did say he only received one letter so far, i told him just wait until you get them! You will have plenty of reading :) Ducky i pray that they get it all together and you will be getting a call and letter soon!!!
Thx Diannep! I definitely planned on leaving Sunday either way....
