~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I'm happy to hear that some divisions are coming together, unfortunately, my SR is not so lucky. Calls and letters are not coming due to ongoing problems.....
Hmmmm....MYSAILORSCOOP: No, they usually do not know that info yet. He would not have his orders/flight info yet. However, assume that and book your return flight on Sunday sometime just in case! Most of them will fly out on Saturday.
It seems to be all coming together for all of us. Letters and calls! What a true blessing when we hear from them. i have been doing so much reading about what they are going through each week and i though the next time we heard from him, it may not be as positive, but we got another letter today and all still sounds good! Half way there :) He said to stay by our phones today YIPEE:)
Good Morning!
Received some letters on Friday and a phone call from my husby yesterday! He sounds great, very excited about the whole experience and kicking b*tt on his tests...lol
He's also Unit Leader and said he received a badge or was it a patch? Im so proud of him! He will be getting Oral surgery soon but said that it wouldnt interfere with his training or PIR so thats great to hear but scary at the same time...We spoke for about 20 minutes and I've been walking on clouds ever since!
He mentioned that he would have both Friday and Saturday to spend with us and would be flying out Sunday...Would he know that information this early on? Either way I plan on staying til Sunday but I thought it was wierd that he knew this so early since I've read that they usually don't know this information til the week of....
Kathy: What he means is that you can't go through BattleStations if you have pink eye. But they give them drops that clears it pretty quickly and they will go with another division. It is so highly contagious!
xraylady: Yep, my son was one of those "never gets sick" guys too...until bootcamp. That Ricky Crud is pretty contagious....and they have lowered immune systems in the beginning from the influx of all of those shots (my opinion!) making them more prone to catch stuff. They all survive it!
Hi all. Got what felt like a 20 minute phone call from our son today! yeah!! While sick with a cold, he sounded great and upbeat. He is faring well. He is enjoying meeting all of your sons, and says they are feeding them all well. He sounded really good. So nice to hear. He did say that pink eye / conjunctivitis is going around so he is trying hard not to touch his face / eyes. Says that can delay graduation if you get it prior to graduation.
Says that we might not hear from him for another couple of weeks but is happy that he is progressing .... yeah! Nice belated Christmas present for us. Kathy
tchon, that is so funny, I bet she had paper flying at her from every direction lol.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday, We had our Sailors home and 21 other family members at our home for Christmas dinner and Crazy Santa. It was loads of fun :) Already looking forward to next year when we will add to the family members here with our new grand baby due in early August :)
